How to use the Present Continuous.            زمن المضارع المستمر   The Present Continuous is used to: 1. say what is happening now at the time of speaking:                    للتحدث عما يحدث الآن وقت الكلام She's having a bath at the moment. I am doing something now.   2. describe a temporary state, which will change:                   لوصف حالة معاصرة سوف لا تتغير I'm working here until I go to France. He's living in Germany until Christmas. 3. describe a future arrangement:                                                     لوصف ترتيب لمستقبل سيحدث We're going to London tonight. I'm leaving on Saturday night.   How to make the Present Continuous.                                              تكوينه       The Present Continuous tense is made with the verb "to be" + verb + ing. 1. Positive                                                                        في الجملة المثبتة     I'm / I am reading a book. You're / You are staying here. He's / He is living in Munich. She's / She is playing tennis. It's / It is raining. We're / We are going out tonight. You're / You are going to the shops. They're / They are visiting friends.   2. Negative - we make the negative with "to be" + not + verb + ing.                  في النفي I'm not / I am not reading a book. You're not / You are not staying here. He's not / He is not living in Munich. She's not / She is not playing tennis. It's not / It is not raining. We're not / We are not going out tonight. You're not / You are not going to the shops. They're not / They are not visiting friends.   3. Questions - we make questions with "to be" + subject + verb + ing.                في السؤال Am I reading a book? Are you staying here? Is he living in Munich? Is she playing tennis? Is it raining? Are we going out tonight? Are you going to the shops? Are they visiting friends?   4. Short answers                                                                            الإجابات المختصرة Positive Negative Yes, I am. No, I'm not. No, I am not. Yes, you are. No, you're not. No, you are not. Yes, he is. No, he's not. No, he is not. Yes, she is. No, she's not. No, she is not. Yes, it is. No, it's not. No, it is not. Yes, we are. No, we're not. No, we are not. Yes, you are. No, you're not. No, you are not. Yes, they are. No, they're not. No, they are not.   5. Spelling rules for verb + ing.                                                قواعد الهجاء للافعال a) Put -ing on the verb e.g., wash - washing, read - reading, sleep - sleeping. b) For verbs finishing in -e take off the -e and put -ing e.g., drive - driving, use - using, write - writing. c) For verbs with a short vowel sound and one consonant double the consonant and put -ing e.g., swim - swimming, sit - sitting, put - putting. Some verbs can NOT be used in the Present Continuous tenses. e.g.,       بعض افعال لا تستخدم في المضارع المستمر hate, understand, like, want, taste, know. يعرف     يتذوق    يريد    يحب           يفهم             يكره
