Jake Kings, a doctor.

I think many things in medicine will have changed by 2050. It is not easy to predict these changes but here is what I think. By 2050 diagnosing our illnesses will have become completely controlled by computers. You will visit your doctor on the Internet. I believe we will have found a cure for all cancers. However, many diseases will have emerged. Do-it-yourself operations will have been on sale for at least 10 years. We will be able to do these safely at home.

Andrea Barrett, a novelist.

By 2050 all cars will be using water and not petrol. That is if we are still driving cars. I think some space rockets will have been made which travel faster than the speed of light. This means we may be able to travel through time. The sea will be one of the favourite places to have a home and there will already have been three or four cities built under water. One thing I don't think will happen though is that a woman will have been elected as President of the USA!

Sheila Critchley, a university professor.

The world will have become unrecognizable in 50 years time. Robots, of course, will do all our housework and the jobs we don't want to do. Robots will be controlling politics and provide us with much more leisure time. How will we be spending this extra leisure time? Well, the television will have been replaced as our favourite form of entertainment by virtual realities. These will give us much more pleasure than real life!
