Characters are listed in alphabetical order by surname if it is known, first name if not or if they don't have a surname, like the 'Dinis. Adela: (TTatH) T-3 kinetic, Perry's wife, accompanied him on his Asimov assignment.
Adi, Hazur: (TTatH) T-7, Petty Officer aboard the Washington, investigating Hiver-occupied (and abandoned) planets. Took soil samples. Thian was happy to find him unbiased, unlike some lesser Talented and non-Talented crewmembers.
Adler: (TR) Callisto Tower personnel.
Alcibaca: (TTatH) Vagrian's former lover on Altair who was with him when his talent emerged.
Alicia (Aunt): (LP) Referred to as such by Clancy Sparrow. Presumably Roddie and Asia's mother.
Alla: (D) Damia's schoolmate on Deneb.
Amos: (TTatH) Crew-talent of the Strongbow participating in Operation Switch.
Asaph: (TR, D) Deneb City Chief Medic.
Ashiant: (DC, LP) Captain of the Vadim. Later captained the Pursuit Squadron flagship the Washington. After the success of the operation, he was promoted to Admiral. The name of his squadron was changed to 1st Fleet.
Attenboro, Scott: (TTatH) Human on Clarf that Morag discussed Tower generators with, to further the impression that she was on Clarf to learn more about them.
Auster-Kiely, Ridvan: (DC, TTatH) Lieutenant on the Vadim who investigated the Great Sphere with Thian and found a tunnel with Hiver larvae. [Once referred to as Kiely-Austin in TTatH]
Baldwin: (LP, TTatH) Xenophobic Commander on Phobos Moon Base. One of the leaders of the Hiver Annihilationists who supported wiping out the Hivers completely. He also opposed the Human-Mrdini Alliance, and didn't like Talents [probably because he himself didn't have any].
Balidovino: (TTatH) Lieutenant, duty engineer aboard the Asimov.
Bardy: (TR) Lusena's daughter and the Rowan's foster-sister. A generous person, she never bore the Rowan any grudges for taking up so much of her mother's time. Husband Jedder Haley After Lusena's death, she gave birth to twin girls, one of whom resembled her grandmother.
Barinov: (TR): Trainee taking a course in Tower management on Altair. Extremely handsome, the Rowan found his attentions strange, until she realized he had somehow found out she was T-1, not the T-4 she's been playing in order to integrate into the group.
Bastian: (TR, LP) T-2 stationed at Altair Tower. See also Maharanjani.
Bastianmajani, Flavia: (LP, TTatH) T-1, native planet Altair. Granddaughter [TTatH claims daughter] of Bastian and Maharanjani. Part of Operation Snatch at Xh-33 and Operation Illuminate at Phobos Moon Base. Transported the Hiver queen to the Refugee with Thian and Rojer. Leader of the talents of the Exploration Squadron. Instigated the maneuver to divert the KVS from detouring to meet opposition. Mated to Jesper Ornigo. Took her turn as Talavera Tower Prime with Rojer and Zara. After Talavera, the team (except Zara) went to investigate the Hiver-occupied world Ciudad Rodrigo, including Jes.
Bastianmanjani, Mallen: (LP, TTatH) T-3, brother of Flavia. Joined his sister on the Exploration Squadron. Transferred with Asia to the KMTM when the Squadron redeployed. Helped set up Talavera Tower. Nickname Mall or Mal.
Bay, Dorot: (TTatH) Kinetic T-6, mainly receiver, yeoman aboard the Columbia. Had worked with Seelbat Buffer, temped at Talavera Tower.
Beejay: (TTatH) T-3 'pather at Iwojima Tower. Liked the sight of Vagrian the moment he arrived. Home planet Truro in the Procyon system, which had a reputation for weird cults, as well as clairvoyants and Talented therapists.
Beliakin, Vagrian: (TTatH) Dysfunctional Altairian T-2 kinetic who came to his Talent in adulthood during an emergency. Was sent to Clarf (as a potential partner for Laria) but Laria rejected him because of his bad attitude and generally repellent personality. Yoshuk called him Grian and agreed with Laria's assessment even as Vagrian's his own brother. Clarissia Negeva tried to recruit him to her schemes, but failed. He got sent to Aurigae to adjust. Damia claimed he felt like Sodan come back to haunt her. The adjustment worked. During Laria and Kincaid's stay on Aurigae, he went to Blundell to help with the investigations of the attack instigated by Clarissia and to prove his innocence. Soon after, he got posted to his own Tower at a new colony, Iwojima.
Beliakin, Yoshuk: (TTatH) See Yoshuk.
Besseva: (TR, D, DC, LP) Denebian talent. Related to the Ravens. Often consoled Rojer during his convalescence.
Bessy: (TTatH) Scout involved in the investigation of Arcadia.
Bhuto: (DC) Ensign aboard the Beijing who shepherded Rojer.
Blairik, Dr Tru: (LP, TTatH) Team biologist aboard the Columbia. Investigated Hiver-occupied and abandoned worlds, was part of the team terraforming Talavera.
Blaz, Steena: (DC) Communications officer on the Vadim.
Bralla: (TR) T-4 empath. Siglen's Personal Assistant.
Bremerton, Clark: (LP) Captain of the destroyer Maine, left behind by Squadron C (or D) to keep track of the Hive ship ion trail. Had no problems taking the telepathic message sent by Thian on the Washington which came to relieve the Maine.
Brikowski: (DC, LP) Communications Officer (Lieutenant) on the Vadim. Promoted to Captain of the Beijing (LP) [assuming it's the same person, there's at least two grades (Lt Cmdr & Cmdr in between].
Britt: (TTatH] Lieutenant-Commander, Science officer investigating Arcadia, but not in situ, perhaps on the Washington?
Buffer, Seelbat: (TTatH) Capellan T-5 telekinetic and yard manager at Talavera Tower. Flavia helped him get off Capella. Unusually for a Capellan he had 'Dinis, one of them called Put. Nickname Seel.
Camella: (TR) Altair Secretary of the Interior.
Capella: (TR) T-1, Capellan Prime who adopted the name of the planet where she works.
Chadevsky, Rakella: (TR, D, DC) Nurse at Deneb City Hospital. Jeff Raven's aunt.
Channa: (D) Denebian cousin of Jeran, Cera, Damia, Larak and Ezro. Surname unknown
Channi: (TR) T-4 telepath and kinetic. Discussed as possible PA at Callisto Tower, but the Rowan couldn't achieve any rapport with her.
Charteris, Cyra: T-3 ensign in Engineering in the Pursuit Squadron (ship unspecified, probably the Washington) favored by Rojer on excursions with the scoutship Revere. Compared tapes taken by Spktm at the nova site and the Washington of the Hiver quadrant to find the spectral signature of the Hive Homeworld primary which went nova.
Chesemen: (DC, LP) One of the junior captains in the Vadim's squadron. Alternate spelling Cheseman (LP). Captained the Solidarity in the Pursuit Squadron.
Clark: (DC) Lieutenant, physiotherapist aboard the Vadim.
Clunen: (TTatH) Denebian who came late to his talent. Compared to Vagrian he/she handled the emergence well.
Curran, Commander: (D) Commander of the vessel that welcomed the Mrdinis to Deneb.
Damitcha: (D) Chief of the freighter Zanzibar that often called at Capella during Afra's childhood.
Dano, Kincaid: (LP, TTatH) Homosexual, Altairian T-2 posted to Clarf after doing a stint on Strongbow [Valparaiso early in TTatH] after Clarissia left. Laria helped heal his exhausted mind. Later, indulged in 'Dini-induced passion with Laria, which, much to their surprise, developed into a loving relationship, with Laria getting pregnant with a Talented child. The only Talent in his family, he suffered considerable hardship from the other members of his family [Surprising, really, that they accepted 'Dinis into their family!]. Went to Aurigae with Laria to succor their injured 'Dinis. 'Dinis Npl and Pls.
Darrow, Henry: (TTatH) The first Talent ever to be recorded experiencing a clairvoyant episode. Mentioned when Thian and Clancy discussed what would happen to Talents who transgressed against Talent ethics and morals. They were mind-burned, deprived of their Talent (the transgressors, not Thian and Clancy!).
David: (series) T-1, Betelgeuse Prime. Possessive of his T-1 children Morgelle, Perry and Xahra who were "rescued" by the Gwyn-Raven-Lyon clan and given more interesting jobs.
Day, Lea: (LP, TTatH) T-4 telekinetic electrician, Chief Petty Officer discovered by Semirame Kloo aboard the destroyer Athene in the Pursuit Squadron [TTatH claims that she was discovered at Phobos Moon Base, not so!]. Though only a CPO, she was sometimes invited to dine at the Captain's table on the Washington as a member of the Hive Sphere destruction team. She also came up with the idea (Project Shanghai) to stash Hivers under investigation at Arcadia [?] in the Hive Sphere orbiting the planet to prevent possibly malicious lower Talents from detecting the sting-pzzt.
Declan: (DC) Bridge personnel aboard the Vadim.
Deferson: (TTatH) Denebian who came late to his talent. Compared to Vagrian he handled the emergence well.
del Falco, Enarit: (LP) Admiral, xenophobic (anti-Talent, anti-'Dini) Commandant of the Phobos Moon Base where the Hiver ship (Refugee) from Operation Snatch was under investigation.
Derynic, Selig: (LP) Captain of the destroyer Comanche. Told off by Captain Ashiant for not noticing the replacement maneuver between his ship and the Athene.
d'Estres, Tarmina: (TTatH) A Talent at Blundell charmed by Vagrian Beliakin during his short stay there. According to the Rowan, there's "no better woman to pour salve on a wounded male".
Doplas: (DC, LP) Communications officer aboard the Genesee.
Dumas, Andy: (TTatH) Telepath, T-2 sent with his wife Ivy to replace Rojer at Talavera Tower. Partnered with unnamed 'Dinis
Dumas, Ivy: (TTatH) Telepath, T-2 sent with her husband Andy to replace Rojer at Talavera Tower. Unnamed 'Dinis.
Eagle(s), Asia: (LP, TTatH) T-4 engineer. Native planet Deneb. Roddie's youngest (of 10 children) sister, self-effacing to a fault, she studied with Rojer when he was recovering from the loss of Grl and Ktg and charmed him. Participated in the Exploration Squadron on the Columbia and later the KMTM. Rojer and she became a couple after the conclusion of the Hiver operations. She helped set up Talavera Tower as one of the engineers. Their partnership was consummated after the new Tower Crew (Andy and Ivy Dumas, Denebian twins Scott and Stuart with their sister Sara as well as an engineer and expediter) arrived and Asia got tired of waiting for Rojer to make a move. After Talavera, the team (except Zara) went to investigate the Hiver-occupied world Ciudad Rodrigo. Rojer and Asia transferred to the Asimov to help Perry with Operation Switch to pacify the belligerent Hivers at Xh-33.
Eagle(s), Rhodri: (DC, LP, TTatH) T-3, Naval Talent. Denebian cousin of the Raven-Lyon kids, the bane of their childhood. Improved beyond recognition during his stint at the Heinlein moon base. Helped start up the Refugee by taking care of the Heinlein Base end. Nickname Roddie. Sister Asia Eagle(s). Participated in the Exploration Squadron on the Columbia and later the Valparaiso. Had a romance with Captain Vestapia Soligen. He transferred back to the Columbia to set up Talavera Tower. After Talavera, the team (except Zara) went to investigate the Hiver-occupied world Ciudad Rodrigo.
Elias: (TTatH) Crew-talent of the Strongbow participating in Operation Switch.

Far(do) Ah Min: (DC, LP) Gunnery officer of the Vadim. Spelled Fadh Ah Min in LP when he was Weapons on the Washington.
Filomena: (D, DC) T-9 Aurigae Tower Expediter. [DC Alternate spelling Filamena.]
Finnan: (TR) Lusena's son and Bardy's brother, the Rowan's foster brother.
Firr: (DC) Chief aboard the Beijing responsible for the Hiver ship reconstruction aboard ship.

Gander, Eri: (DC, LP) Lieutenant, morale officer aboard the Genesee.
Gefferny: (TTatH) Major aboard the Washington who uncovered a gang of Hiver annihilationists.
Germys: (DC, LP) Exe aboard the Vadim. Promoted to Captain of the Vadim when Ashiant and most of his officers crewed the Washington. Germys moved to captain the Genesee. [Was the Vadim promotion a typo? Later replaced by Captain Pat Shepherd on the Vadim?? Referred to as Jaskell-Germys early in DC.]
Gerolaman: (TR) T-5, Altair Stationmaster. Nickname Gerry. Wife Samella. Helped train the Rowan in talent-related skills. Procured Rascal for her after the destruction of Purza.
Godowlning: (DC) Chief Petty Officer aboard the Beijing
Greb, Nyol: (TTatH) Disgruntled T-2 kinetic from Capella who broke into the Blundell building and attacked the Talents and 'Dinis inside. He got his Talent blocked for his pains.
Greene: (DC) Xenophobic seaman on the Vadim.
Greevy, Alison Anne: (DC, LP, TTatH) T-5 empath. Lieutenant, nurse on the Vadim. Nickname Gravy. Human-Mrdini medical liaison on the Washington. Mating Thian granted her a seat with the talents at Ashiant's mess table. [Spelled Alison Ann throughout TTatH.] Participated in everything Thian did from now on, including an excursion to visit a Hiver-occupied planet. After this, she announced her intention to ask for maternity leave.
Gregarian, Wayla: (LP) Science-officer and 'Dini interpreter aboard the Columbia.
Gren, Gollee: (series) T-4 Blundell Tower troubleshooter, head of placement and training. Wife Tanya. [Upgraded to T-2 in TTatH, typo or similar development to Afra's?]
Guanil: (DC) T-10 stationed at Blundell. Met the carrier transporting Miner Rep Mexalgo and, unbeknownst to either, Zara, to Earth.
Guzman: (TR) T-5, Procyon Prime.
Gwyn, Angharad a. k. a. The Rowan: (series) T-1 Native planet Altair. Parents: Morag and Ewain Gwyn, brother Ian Gwyn. She was orphaned at age 3 in a mudslide where her Talent emerged, the talents of the planet heard her cries for help. The Rowan Mining disaster was so traumatic that she forgot all of her previous life, including, for a time, her own name. Ward of the planet Altair. Siglen conditioned her to be space-sick, although her traumatic childhood experiences also contributed. Callisto Prime, temped a while on Altair after Siglen's death. Husband Jeff Raven who appealed for help when Hiver scouts began bombarding Deneb. When he was injured, the Rowan overcame her conditioning and traveled to Deneb to nurse him back to health. Had a very difficult time expecting Larak, Damia's precocity didn't make it any easier. Children Jeran, Cera, Damia, Larak and Ezro Gwyn-Raven. Matriarch of the Gwyn-Raven-Lyon clan. Later in life she traveled very little, once to the Genesee after Rojer disappeared when Gil and Kat died to protect him, and later to Blundell to discuss the Hiver and Mrdini situations. She was present when Blundell was breached by three disaffected Talents and a 'Dini.
Gwyn, Ewain: (TR) The Rowan's father. A mining engineer who emigrated from Earth to Altair, he died in the Rowan Mining disaster when a mudslide filled the Oshoni valley. One of Laria and Afra's sons is named after him.
Gwyn, Ian: (TR) The Rowan's brother [younger or older?] who also died in the Rowan Mining disaster.
Gwyn, Morag: (TR) The Rowan's mother. A teacher, she settled with her husband Ewain in the Oshoni valley on Altair. She died in the Rowan Mining disaster. One of Laria and Afra's daughters is named after her.
Haley, Jedder: (TR) Bardy's husband.
Halsted: (TTatH) Captain of the Strongbow during Operation Switch at Xh-33 during which he offered Xahra the use of his own cabin as the only one suitable for a Prime.
Hasardar: (D): Capella Tower Stationmaster.
Hawk, Buzbeth: (LP) T-5, Denebian servo-mechanics engineer on Clarf, dated Lionasha. [Relationahip to the Eagles, Sparrows and Ravens confirmed in TTatH, although Buzbeth's not mentioned by name.]
Hemmer: (TTatH) Crewman involved in the investigation of Arcadia.
Herault: (D, DC) T-9. Aurigae Tower Stationmaster. Infatuated with Damia (D).
Hess-Tukin, Marjolee: (TTatH) One of Vanteer's conquests.
Hickey: (TTatH) Crewman investigating the Xh-33 Hiver war.
Hogarth, Ellen: (TTatH) Captain of the Nova Scotia. Hosted Afra, Morag and Kaltia during Operation Switch at Xh-33.
Hsiang: (LP) Captain of one of the ships in C Squadron supported by Kincaid Dano. Found Hiver-occupied worlds. Referred to only as Hsiang. One Li Hsiang captained the destroyer Valiant.
Iredit, Viling: (TTatH) Irate T-2 Blundell Tower Engineer whose generators overloaded when the entire Talent contingent involved insisted on transporting the misguided [unnamed] 'Dini to Kif after the attack on the Talents and 'Dinis.
Ismail, Sadler: (LP, TTatH) Lieutenant testing locator buttons on the Columbia.
Ivanov, Vlad: (TTatH) Crew telekinetic aboard the Washington, normally working in the machine shop, involved in the operation to investigate Arcadia, a Hiver-occupied planet with pacific occupants.
Janfinde: (TTatH) T-4 engineer at Iwojima Tower.

Keiser-Tau, Kwan: (LP, TTatH) Major, marine commander, aboard the Columbia who doubted the Talents' weapons-handling skills. Protected the team sent to investigate Ciudad Rodrigo, and was just as difficult there.
Kelani, Marci: (D) Channa's friend and Jeran's love-interest on Deneb.
Kes: (DC) Crew member involved in the exploration of the ruined Hive Sphere.
Keylarion: (D, DC, LP, TTatH) T-6 Aurigae Tower expediter.
Kloo, Semirame: (LP, TTatH) T-5 sender working on Operation Illuminate, sent to the sphere because Admiral del Falco didn't believe in sting-pzzt. Took part in starting the Refugee up by running a decontam drill as the Talents took care of the Hiver Queen. Nickname Rame. Thian wanted her as Lieutenant-Commander on the Washington. Clancy took her on excursions with the scoutships. [Referred to as Commander Semirame at least once in TTatH.] Led the investigation of Arcadia, a planet occupied by pacific Hivers. [Promoted to Commander after the investigation?] Suggested the Sphere orbiting Arcadia -useless though it was- be jury-rigged to blow up in case any Hivers boarded it to placate the Annihilationists aboard the Washington and in the First Fleet in general, as it was impossible for the High Talents to check everyone out personally.
Laney, Pierre: (TTatH) Frenchman with a hypersensitive nose who duplicated the Hiver pheromones found at pacific Arcadia to pacify other, belligerent Hiver planets, especially Xh-33. He also formulated nice scents for the ladies aboard the Asimov from Hiver stenches.
Langio, Anis: (LP, TTatH) Astrogation officer [Lieutenant?] aboard the Genesee. Referred to, although not by name, in DC. Rojer admired her at a distance. Transferred to the Washington where she was Lieutenant-Commander. Captain Ashiant called her the best astrogator of the Pursuit Squadron.
Lentard: (TTatH) CPO aboard the Columbia who logged Rojer's request for assistance at Talavera Tower.
Leonhard: (D) Captained the Altairian freighter that Damia visited.
Lin Xing Tsu: (D) Lieutenant junior grade aboard the Genesee.
Lionasha: (DC, LP, TTatH) T-7 station manager and expediter at Clarf Tower. Nickname Lio. 'Dinis Fig and Sil (unlisted in the 'Dini list as proper names are unknown). At one time dated Buzbeth Hawk, a distant relative to the Ravens, Eagles and Sparrows. Acted as female chaperone to Morag and Kaltia on Clarf.
Lodjyn: (TR) Captain of the Zambia. Took Jeff to recon the Hiver Sphere before it could attack Deneb.
Loftus, Ray: (TR) South African trainee taking a course in Tower management on Altair. Later stationed at Callisto Tower. [Talent rating?]
Louie: (LP) T-4 telekinetic chef aboard the Genesee discovered by Rojer making his rounds in the Pursuit Squadron. Known as "Lucky", because he escaped accidents in the galley.
Luciano: (D) Restaurant owner on Jerhattan, caterer to the Rowan.
Lusena: (TR) See Shev Alloway, Lusena.
Lyon, Afra: (series) Native planet Capella. Had the green skin and yellow eyes typical of the Capellans. TR: T-4, upgraded to T-3 and later T-2 "as close to a Prime as [he] wanted to get", although Thian claimed in TTatH that he was originally T-3. Callisto Tower Second-in-Command. Seriously hurt in the Sodan incident when Larak was killed, sent to Deneb to recover where he and Damia fell in love. Aurigae T-2. Wife Damia Raven-Lyon, children Laria, (Is)Thian, Rojer, Zara, Morag, Kaltia, Ewain and Petra. Raised on a Methody world, Afra abhorred violence. He didn't like being called 'Affa' by the adult Damia. Few breaks off Aurigae after his marriage, accompanied Rojer to the Beijing to transfer the Hiver Queen to Heinlein Moon Base, went to the Genesee to console Rojer after his 'Dinis died on the line, and participated in Operation Switch on the Asimov at Xh-33.
Lyon, Cheswina: (D) T-8 telepath (supposedly a sender, but capable of hearing at least Afra). Native planet Capella. Husband Gos Lyon. Children Goswina, Chostel and Afra Lyon.
Lyon, Chostel: (D) Afra's older brother.
Lyon, Ewain: (DC, LP, TTatH) T-1, 7th child of Damia and Afra Lyon. Nickname E. 'Dinis Vtl and Bfr.
Lyon, Gos: (D) T-7 kinetic. Wife Cheswina Lyon. Children Goswina, Chostel and Afra Lyon.
Lyon, Goswina (later Ogdon): (TR, D) T-6. Native planet Capella, trainee taking a course on Tower management on Altair. Parents Gos and Cheswina Lyon, brothers Afra and Chostel. Husband Vessily Ogdon, son Veswind.

Had bad luck with assistants, first the ineffectual Stierlman, then the xenophobic Clarissia and much later, duning the colonization of Talavera when the Tower was especially busy, the obnoxious Vagrian. Helped heal the exhausted, homosexual T-2 Kincaid Dano, who thanks to their 'Dinis later became her true partner and fathered her child. Went home to succor her injured 'Dinis together with Kincaid and his 'Dinis. 'Dinis Tlp and Hgf.

Lyon, Rojer: (DC, LP, TTatH) Third child of Damia and Afra Lyon. T-1. Nickname Roj. Served on various ships including the Beijing, the Genesee and the Washington as well as Phobos Moon Base. Shared a special sibling bond with Zara, could comfort her where others failed. Together with Thian and Flavia Bastianmajani transported the Hiver queen to the Refugee so she could start it up. 'Dinis Grl and Ktg died on the line aboard the KTTS, killed by Prtglm. Were later regenerated on Aurigae. As part of the Pursuit Squadron talents, he, together with Clancy, broke FT & T instructions to save the scouts by shielding them telekinetically. Thian asked Earth Prime to transfer Rojer to the Columbia so that he could be with Asia. Columbia's squadron helped set up Talavera, or Tlvr to the 'Dinis, and Rojer, Flavia and Zara took turns as Talavera Prime for a while. Rojer and Asia's partnership was consummated after the new Tower Crew (Andy and Ivy Dumas, Denebian twins Scott and Stuart with their sister Sara as well as an engineer and expediter) arrived and Asia got tired of waiting for Rojer to make a move. After Talavera, the team (except Zara) went to investigate the Hiver-occupied world Ciudad Rodrigo. Rojer and Asia transferred to the Asimov to help Barry with Operation Switch to pacify the belligerent Hivers at Xh-33.
Lyon, Thian: (DC, LP, TTatH) Full name Isthian, named for his great-grandmother Isthia Raven. T-1. First Naval Prime. 'Dinis Mrg and Dpl. Tour of duty consisted of several ships, including the Vadim, the Genesee and the Washington and the 'Dini ship KLTL (One reference in LP to KLTS, possibly a typo?). Leader of the Talents on Phobos Moon Base and the Exploration Squadron with the Washington as flagship. Came up with the idea of blowing up the suddenly mobilized Hive Spheres by teleporting an explosive device to the engine room. Blew up Hive Sphere # 3. Got together with Alison Anne Greevy on the Vadim and the Washington where they became officially a couple. The Washington investigated Arcadia, a pacific Hiver-occupied planet. After Operation Switch was successful [in which the Washington didn't participate] they investigated another Hiver-occupied planet. Thian was overjoyed when Alison Anne announced her intention to have his child.
Lyon, Zara: (DC, LP, TTatH) Damia and Afra's fourth child. Nickname Zar. T-1. Too emphatic to work in a Tower as an adolescent, she was vegetarian as she couldn't face the necessity of killing for food. She apparently became less sensitive as she grew older. Saved the life of the Hiver queen sequestered at Heinlein base. Trained under Elizara to become a Healer. 'Dinis Dzl and Plg. Shared a special sibling bond with Rojer. Aboard the Columbia as Flavia's supporting Prime, although she refused to teleport explosives. This situation led to Zara being transferred to do research to try to contain the Hivers on the planets they already colonized. The Rowan suggested she be involved in the project to find an effective way to control 'Dini reproduction. When Laria and Kincaid's 'Dinis were seriously hurt at the Clarf main hibernatory disaster, Zara became the first human to be allowed entrance to a 'Dini hibernatory. Together with her team of 'Dinis she managed to save their lives and find the right substance to inhibit 'Dini reproduction.

Living in Callisto dome she got into dangerous situations, falling into the pool, nearly transporting to another planet on a freighter, etc. Her situation wasn't helped by Jeran and Cera who excluded her from their games. When the Rowan had trouble with her fourth pregnancy, the children went to Deneb where Isthia took care of them, and they helped develop Talent on Deneb. When he was old enough, Larak joined them. As an adolescent she had a crush on Afra (24 years her senior) and when he turned her down she inadvertently injured her first lover Amr Tusel who couldn't handle the psionic overload. As a young Prime on Aurigae, she encountered Sodan in outer space and became infatuated with her conception of him, a malevolent entity who wished Humans no good. When she finally saw him for what he was, the Talents went into action and killed the entity who was only a mind. The action killed Larak and seriously injured Afra. Recuperating on Deneb they became a couple, and among the first humans to experience 'Dini dreams.

Attractive, popular with women, even Laria was not unaffected [TTatH gives strong hints that he and Laria shared a casual, physical relationship, "He's handy", at least for a short while.]. Provided support for at least two Talented children by different women. 'Dinis Dig and Nim [not in the 'Dini list as proper names are unknown]. Nickname Van. Acted as the male escort and chaperone to protect Morag and Kaltia as juveniles on a foreign world when they were introduced to the human society on Clarf on the premise that "it takes one to know one".
