| Oops - Encounter with an RX-7 in MARRS 1 | |||||||||||||||||||
| Haz-Matt Racing ran this 1987 VW GTi 16v for 2 seasons until a rather unfortunate encounter with a slightly sideways RX-7. The car had an Autopower bolt-in roll cage with an additional main hoop crossbar. The suspension is a Ground Control coiliover setup using Eibach spirngs and Koni adjustable shocks. Stick for the 1999 season was provided by Toyo tires. The motor was rebuilt by Bruce Robertson, a mechanic in Baltimore, MD and features Racerware head studs and rod bolts. The transmission features a Quaife. Unlike those NAStyCAR boys, SCCA races in the rain although the equipment can occassionally hinder performance. |
