Why did you choose a job/career in this field?

Throughout my fours years at the Schulich school of Business, my focus was in finance, and after working in the bank part time through university I realized how much I enjoyed the financial services industry.   My favourite course throughout university was my Personal Financial Planning course, and that’s when I realizes where my passion lied.  I also enjoy customer service what motivated my was the ability to assist and advise clients on something that is so important to them, their finances.

How did you decide on your job/Career?

After working in the branch for many years, I realized I needed a change and decided to move to the Bank of Montreal National Office in downtown Toronto. I made the move, because I know that I will be able to move quicker up the ladder because you are in front of the right people (i.e. the ones who have power and influence over the decision making)  It gives me the opportunity to share my ideas, show my skills and challenge my mind.  I don’t believe I will remain in this position for long, however I do know that financial services is my passion and so wherever I move within the national office, I know that I will be doing something I love.

How did you find your job/Career?

I applied through workopolis.

What suggestions could you give to those out there who would like to work for the same company or are looking to make a similar career move?

If you enjoy the financial services industry, a financial institution is definitely the way to go.  You have plenty of opportunity to move up and be exposed to different departments within the organization.

Any other suggestions?

Never stop learning, strive for the top, and always enjoy what you do.

Make lots of connections and be involved in clubs, associations etc. that will give you the most valuable experience ever, and that is working with different people.
