Saturday Before Easter
   Saturday
Okay..it is finally Saturday, and you thought you could relax for the day...NOT!
Cause not only is today Saturday...but it is the Saturday before Easter!! (Get yourself a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy this breather before the day starts.) This is about how your day is going to go.  For those who are planning to attend Easter Sunday Services it means this:

Making sure that Johnny's new shirt will stay tucked into his new pants that are slightly to large, so you pray that the belt will hold up the pants and will be tight enough to keep the shirt tucked in, too.  Not to mention that you hope nobody will notice that you hemmed the pants using duct tape-so there wouldn't be a permanent hem line-so he could grow into them for his older sibling's graduation or wedding in June. (Gotta save a buck anywhere you can!)  Or that your trying to re-attach the ruffle back onto Susie's dress that she accidentally ripped when she was modeling it for herself in your dresser mirror while standing on your bed-got to close to the edge-slipped and caught it on the metal bed frame.(Luckily she wasn't hurt).

Then of course there are the new shoes.  The kids are wearing them around the house today, so they'll be broken in for tomorrow--and no matter how many times you yell at them, "STOP running in your new shoes--your gonna fall & crack your head open!"  You hear..boom-bang-CRASH and ...ear piercing SCREAMS.  Oops--to late!   LORD--HELP !!--and it's only 10 am !!  Now it's Emergency Room time. (True story--will tell another time). WEll, several stitches & 2 hours later... that takes care of the morning!

OKAY--afternoon.  Lunch--then--time for the kids to color the egg Right!!!
You map out whatever plan conceivable to minimize the MESS you know that you are about to endure. You make it as simple as possible.  YEH !!  An hour before the actual coloring takes place you...boil several dozen eggs in two large pots-one dozen for each kid, one dozen for Dad, and an extra dozen because12 eggs are never enough per kid !  So, the eggs have been boiled, rinsed, and set in cold water for 20 mins., drained and put back into the egg cartons.  There are crayons, markers, stickers whatever the kids are into decorating for that year.  You've laid four layers of paper towels down in the middle of the table, set 8 cups on the paper towels, add 2 teaspoons of vinegar, and hot water to each cup.  Eight spoons, food coloring, and a roll of paper towels.  Make that two rolls of paper towels!!
Let the FUN begin.

Two hours later the kids are fighting over whose eggs are decorated the best and are amazed at how the eggs that cracked during boiling came out so awesome !!  And you--well your wiping up the spilled colored water & trying to scrub the dye off everyone's hands and from the tiles on the kitchen floor with Ajax.

Then hubby and the kids start clamoring, "What's for dinner?"  You ....not having a civil reply..keep your mouth shut !!  Finally a menu is decided .
Dinner is over..dishes done..the kids are bathed, hair washed, girls hair is fixed so it will be "really pretty" for tomorrow.  Everyone is polished clean and now are FINALLY in bed sleeping.  YOU...of course are totally EXHAUSTED !!
But, now you have to be--Tah...Dah!!--

"The Easter Bunny"

You dig out all the goodies, baskets, bunnies, and grass--that you have bought the past weeks while on sale--out from your secret hiding place.  For the next hour you fill the baskets--neatly arranging the grass, all the trinkets, candies, chocolate bunnies and put the handmade name tags on the baskets, etc, etc.  Pretty as a picture!  That's done !!  NOW--you have to press your outfit, make last minute adjustments, shower, wash your hair and set it.  Lay out everything for everyone to get dressed easily in the morning.   (Like that is really gonna happen .)

You set your alarm for 5 am--cause your "The Easter Bunny " and you have to get some of those decorated eggs out of the frig and put them into the baskets, and of course crack a few..just to make sure the kids know that "The Bunny" was actually there !  It's 1a.m....Your hubby, who's already in bed, comments, "You still up?"

If you happen to be the lucky one who is having Easter Dinner at your house tomorrow..I will put a special prayer request in for you...because on top of all these other things your gonna being doing, you still have all those last minute preps for tomorrow's dinner, and last minute cleaning and arranging "things" that only a hostess or host can understand !

So, may your ham be savory, the potatoes whipped smooth, the asparagus not soggy, the short cake biscuits--well not so dry that when the juice from the strawberries soaks in..that they will at least be soft enough to eat and swallow, and your whipped cream beaten to perfection! (Just joking..there are many good cooks out there--and I am sure that you are one of them...if not, then I hope that your restaurant reservations have been made well in advance!)

So, I hope that you have enjoyed your morning "break", cause as I see it...it's the only one your gonna get today!!

Have  a WONDERFUL Saturday!!
 Luv & Hugs,
