Colitis/Crohn's Disease
I have suffered from colitis for about 15 years now. I went from one doctor to another, suffered through one test after another, until one doctor finally performed a colonoscopy. When the test was over he seemed quite impressed as he handed me a picture of my colon. He said it was the worst case of microscopic colitis he had ever seen. He prescribed Asacol and I have been on the maximum dosage for years now, but still add Immodium to my regime several times a week. I recently underwent gastric bypass surgery and asked my doctor if perhaps the change in my new eating habits would help to improve this paraticular problem. It seems, however, that this is one of several health problems I have that will not get better with weight loss. In fact, she informed me that colitis has nothing to do with my being overweight, and that is related to stress.....Gee, imagine that! An obese person having a health problem that losing weight won't fix! (Okay, I'm entitled to a little sarcasm now and then J)
