Matthew Minix was born on July 19, 1978 in Crown Point, Indiana. He attended school in North Judson, Indiana until the end of his sophomore year of high school, in 1994. In the fall of 1994, Matthew Minix began studying at "The Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities" in Muncie, Indiana.
Matthew graduated from the Indiana Academy on May 25, 1996. He received the National Honors Diploma, and was a National Merit Finalist.
Matthew began studying at Indiana University in Bloomington in September of 1996. He soon chose a double major in Religious Studies and Philosophy, and picked up an interdepartmental minor in Economics and Political Science. Matthew graduated IU in May of 2000, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Arts and Sciences.
During his time at Indiana University, Matthew was actively involved in a number of organizations. During his freshman year, Matthew wrote and directed a play, "The House that Jack Built," for the Union Board's annual "Mystery Dinner Theatre."
Matthew was a participant in the Ashton-Moenkhaus "Quiz Bowl" team for both his sophomore and junior years at IU. He also became an active member of IU's official student pro-Life group, IU Students for Life, during this time.
During the fall of his junior year, Matthew created and led a Catholic Bible Study for the students of his dorm. Later in the year, he became actively involved in the Indiana University Student Association. Matthew was the Senator of Ashton for both his junior and senior years, and also ran for Vice President of the Indiana University Student Association Congress. Matthew also served as the Vice President of IU Students for Life during his senior year, and was a columnist for the Indiana Daily Student during the first semester of his senior year.
After Graduation, Matthew became the Coordinator of Religious Education and Youth Ministry at St. Martin of Tours in Martinsville, Indiana. Matthew held this position for the next two and a half years, from August of 2000 until March of 2003.
Matthew spent the summer of 2003 on a pilgrimage to Santiago, Spain. Matthew walked approximately 500 miles, from Roncesvalles, Spain (on June 2) to Santiago de Compostella (on July 16, 2003). After the pilgrimag was completed, Matthew traveled to Lourdes, Paris, and London.
After returning to the United States, Matthew completed his Masters of Arts from Saint Meinrad School of Theology. In August of 2004, Matthew began pursuing his doctorate in Theology from the University of Dayton.
