Endometriosis: A hormonal and immune disease.  The "endometrium" lines the inside of the uterus and is what sheds during each "period."  In a woman with "endo," tissue like the endometrium is found ouside the uterus in other parts of the body.  This stuff reacts to a woman's cycle and can hurt like heck.
