I believe that William Roe lived in Hothorpe, Northamptonshire at the end of the 17th. Century. Hothorpe is situated against the Northamptonshire/Leicestershire border and appears to have been in the Parish of Theddingworth, a Leicestershire village. Nowadays Hothorpe seems to consist of a handful of houses and a large Hall. I suspect that William would have been born about 1670 and that he married Sarah in about 1695. Their only surviving child was a son, also called William, who was born in Hothorpe in 1697. Sarah died in 1719 and William in 1725. He was buried on May 2nd. in Theddingworth Churchyard. Unfortunately no headstone can be found there.

Records in Northampton County Records Office show William paying a Poll Tax during the reign of William and Mary towards the pursuit of a vigorous war against France.
