Onofre (Martinez) comes from meager beginnings to Barcelona, the City of Marvels, to try and make a new life for himself. He meets Delfina, daughter of the owner of the boardinghouse at which he stays, who introduces him to a group of anarchists. He soon finds this is not the way for him, however, and eventually falls in with the criminal element of the city, starting at the low end as a common thug and working his way up through ruthless means. Still, for all his success, there's one thing he doesn't have -- the love of the woman for whom he's harbored feelings during all this time....
