TV Guide Article - Third Season Finale

The third season winds up with Laura finding a possible romance in Mexico - and Steele dodging a state investigator threatening to revoke the agency's license.

Laura is hired by an odd lot of political power brokers to dig up dirt on "their man" before their opponents do. "Their man," a charming Senate prospect named William Westfield (James Houghton), is honest, but he does have a gap in his past. And when Laura discovers it, somebody takes a shot at her.

That motivates her to follow a clue to Mexico City. Following Laura is Westfield, who's curious to see what she'll find. Laura's suspicious of him at first but his apparent sincerity wins her over. Never quite certain of the status of her relationship with Steele, Laura is intrigued by the possibilities Westfield presents.

Meanwhile, Steele leaves poor Mildred (Doris Roberts) to be grilled by the investigator while he tracks down the gunman who shot at Laura - and missed her on purpose.
