A driver who seriously injured the son of actor Pierce Brosnan in a car crash in Malibu, California, last April has begun serving a six-month jail term in connection with the accident.
James Hall, 20, pleaded no contest on January 30 to one count of drunken driving causing injury, Deputy District Attorney Martin Herscovitz said.
Hall, from England who had been living in Malibu, surrendered to authorities yesterday and began serving a six-month jail term, the official added.
Brosnan's son, Sean Brosnan, 16, of Malibu, suffered serious abdominal injuries while riding with four other passengers in a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Hall that tumbled about 200 feet (60.9 meters) down a steep cliff near Malibu on April 22.
The younger Brosnan was the most seriously injured of the passengers. His family, along with another person in the car, waived their right to restitution from Hall, Herscovitz said. A hearing will be held next month to determine whether Hall would be required to compensate a third passenger.
At the time of the accident Hall told authorities he was travelling 30 miles (48.2 km) per hour and swerved to avoid a rock, when the Blazer plunged over the side.
Pierce Brosnan, the latest actor to play secret agent James Bond, thanked Los Angeles rescue workers for "taking my son and his friends from the jaws of death."

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (AP)
It's another boy for actor Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith.
Paris Beckett Brosnan was born Tuesday in an undisclosed Los Angeles area hospital and "everybody's great," Brosnan publicist Dick Guttman said. It was the second son for the couple; Dylan Thomas Brosnan is 4.
The birth weight of the child wasn't disclosed.
Brosnan, who played James Bond in the "The World is Not Enough" and appears as a spy in the March thriller "The Tailor of Panama," plans to marry Smith this summer, Guttman said.
They postponed their wedding last year because Brosnan's 16-year-old son Sean was hospitalized after a vehicle crash near the family's Malibu home.
Smith was a correspondent for the television program "Entertainment Tonight."

Irish actor Pierce Brosnan's stepson Chris has been released from addiction therapy two weeks before the Bond star comes back to Ireland to begin filming on his latest movie.
Chris, the adopted son of Brosnan's late wife Cassandra Harris, checked into Promises clinic in Hollywood after much persuading from friends.
"I owe a debt to my stepfather" said Chris referring to the support Brosnan gave him through his therapy.
Chris was addicted to Vodka, Brandy, and 'mind-bending' drugs before friends convinced him that he had a problem, he eventually came to the realisation that he needed help.
Brosnan will be back in Ireland in two weeks to start filming on "Evelyn" with his production company Irish Dreamtime.

Beyoncé Knowles Swings Into Austin Powers 3
October 12, 2001
Austin Powers has a new babe: shagadelic Beyoncé Knowles of Destiny's Child.
The singer, who made her acting debut earlier this year as the titular temptress in MTV's Carmen: A Hip Hopera, is in advanced negotiations to make her feature film debut as the female lead in New Line Cinema's Austin Powers 3: Goldmember, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Nothing else is known about the character Knowles would play, but you can bet your bippy that her name will be along the "nudge, nudge, wink wink" lines of Heather Graham's Felicity Shagwell.
The third installment of Austin Powers continues the adventures of the swinging '60s superspy and his nemesis, Dr. Evil, both played by Myers. The comedian is said to also be playing the title character of the villainous Goldmember (a play on the James Bond title Goldfinger), as well as Fat Bastard, the obese Scotsman he trotted out in the second film.
Last week, Michael Caine signed on to star as Austin Powers' father, a role that Myers was reportedly trying to cast with original 007 Sean Connery.
Other 007 casting rumors abound, such as current James Bond Pierce Brosnan playing a parody of his superspy. The London Daily Express reported that Brosnan's character will team up with Powers to save the world from Dr. Evil and Goldmember. Production is scheduled to begin next month for a July 26 release date on the film for New Line Cinema.

JAMES BOND CAUGHT RED HANDED BY FURIOUS BRIDE
November 20, 2001
It's a good thing for James Bond star Pierce Brosnan that his wife Keely Shaye Smith isn't Licensed to Kill! She was ready to break his Goldfingers when she caught him with his hands all over his new co-star.
The couple, who tied the knot in August, has been in Ireland, where Pierce is shooting his latest movie, a child-custody drama called Evelyn, with sexy ex-ER nurse Julianna Margulies.
Everything was going great until Keely visited her hubby on the set unannounced and spotted him giving Julianna, 35, a lingering massage.
Pierce, 48, is known for his stress-relieving rubs among cast and crew, but Keely, 38, was shaken and stirred when she spied The Spy Who Loves Her in action with his leading lady.
Now she's banned 007 from giving ANYONE besides her a rubdown. What's the matter, Pierce, one woman in The World Is Not Enough?
