9/11 |
The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (USA PATRIOT) Act of 2001 was forged in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. On that day, nineteen Islamic extremist terrorists boarded four airplanes about to do an act that would catch the United States off guard and force fundamental changes in the United States. At 0846 EST, American Flight 11 would be the lynch pin in this hellish act by flying into the north tower of the World Trade Center. United Airlines 175 at 0903 EST would follow this, but this time this plane would fly into the south tower. Next in this nightmare would be American Flight 77 flying over the Potomac, it would crash into the Pentagon at 0945 EST. Shortly thereafter, passengers on United Airline 93 would force the airplane to crash in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania . After the dust settled, over 3000 persons were lost and in the wake of this nightmare, in the midst of patriotism, anger, fear, and the desire to do something, the Bush administration and Congress rushed to help law officials to stop and capture other terrorists who threaten the United States with the USA PATRIOT Act.
