NOEL BORDADOR TO BE ORDAINED TO THE DIACONATE . . . Noel E. Bordador, originally from the Philippines, considers himself a true New Yorker since he has been living in New York for the last twenty two years. His sponsoring parish for ordination is the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Manhattan. He is currently working on his Master of Sacred Theology (STM) degree at the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in New York City, where he also obtained a Diploma in Anglican Studies last year. Prior to coming to General, Noel was a social worker after he graduated with a Master of Social Work degree from Hunter College School of Social Work. His social work experience includes working with persons with psychiatric disabilities, the homeless, and persons living with (and affected with) HIV or AIDS. Before social work, Noel was enrolled at the Union Theological Seminary, New York, where he obtained his Master of Divinity degree in 1990. He is currently doing his parish field placement at St. Ann's Church, South Bronx, and an internship as a chaplain (through the HealthCare Chaplaincy, Inc.) at Lenox Hill Hospital, Manhattan. His interest in pastoral care includes geriatrics and the care of the dying and the bereaved. Noel hopes to work in a parish not only with a strong commitment to spiritual development but also a strong passion for social justice issues. God willing and the people consenting, Noel will be ordained by the Right Reverend Richard Grein, Bishop of New York, to the diaconate on March 10, 2001. His ordination to the priesthood by the Right Reverend Mark Sisk, Bishop of New York (currently Bishop Coadjutor), has been scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2001.
