My Experience

Well, one of my personal best experience is visiting the Kiluan Island around Lampung. It’s a beautiful island, an awesome sightseeing place that you won’t regret visiting. There are lots of shallow, untouched, underwater coral reefs filled with different kinds of biotics. My family, teachers and I slept in some kind of cottage owned by the locals. At dawn, I would stare out toward the beach, waiting for sunrise. It was really beautiful. After we had breakfast, we went to the beach and played with the waves. My brother and sister were soaking wet, but it was a lot of fun.

One of our favorite activitiy is fishing. It’s like a tradition for us, whenever we went to the beach, we tried to do some fishing. So, my brother and I went to the edge of the cliff on the island. Below the cliff, there are some corals, so if we fell off, well, i guess you can imagine it. However, it was the best fishing spot. We fished lot’s of fish, usually Kerapu fish (trust me, it’s really delicious).  Then, my brother’s hook was bit by a really stong (and big) fish. We tried to pull it over, but the fish just keep resisting, it was really strong. The string was not really strong, so it snapped. It was really terrifying, and we believed it was a baby shark that bit it. Well, we went back to the cottage to cook the fish after that incident.

Well, in the island, I went around and have a stroll on the beach. I looked around the shallow corals and saw that there were loads of blue starfishes. I was surprised, because these kind of starfish are usually found deep in the seas. Somehow they were just lying around the shallow corals. It was a fantastic scenery. Then, I went around the shallow waters and looked around if any fish passes by. I saw some kind of plastic move around quickly, hiding behind a rock. It was transparent, so it’s quite difficult to see. I was curious, so I opened the rock, and the animal spilled ink in the water. Then I realized that it was a small octopus. I caught the octopus by dragging it towards the beach, using sticks and a plastic bag. I showed it to my family. Then, I met a marine researcher, and he told me to let the octopus go. It’s a shame, but I gotta do it, to let it live longer. It will only die if I keep it, anyway.
