Some of My Favorite Saints

The following list of saints come from many different sees (Antioch, Alexandria, Rome, Constantinople). While some may disagree in my citation of St. Francis of Assissi for the reason that he came and lived under the jurisdiction of the Romans (who were at that time in schism from Antioch, Alexandria, and Constantinople), I feel his life is quite unique, and truly the example of a simple Christian. If any of you my beloved have complains, email them to me at [email protected].

Oriental Orthodox Saints

St. Ignatius of Antioch - AKA, Theophoros, the 3rd Patriach of Antioch--after St. Peter and St. Evodius--who was later martyred in Rome because of his love for Jesus.

To read more on St. Ignatius, visit the "Good Reading" page, where you can read many of his epistles.

St. Moses the Ethiopian - A former bandit abandons his old ways becoming a desert ascetic. He is later murdered while defending the monestary he resided in. St. Moses the Black: Sinner to Ascetic

St. Theodora, Queen of the Byzantines - St. Theodora is a champion amongst the Oriental Orthodox, having protected the faithful from the hands of her husband Emperor Justinian, who was responsible for the mass murders and persecutions of the anti-Chalcedonian Orthodox inside the Byzantine Empire. Her father was a Syrian Orthodox priest, and Queen Theodora was herself Syriac Orthodox.
