Thank god I did not pass out before the pointer struck 12! Otherwise, the day after was a wrecking due to the multiple cleaning (backyard, front yard, street, sheets, clothing and my rug!)... but a day to relax around the living room.

    May 15, 2004: Uncle Ray's Funeral Service

Love you Uncle! Thanks for your laughter and joy you brought into my life and everyone that you touched. Keep a look out on the family.

    I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I am following the path God has laid you see.
I took his hand when I heard him call.
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joys.
    A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh, yes these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with time of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and and share with me.
God wanted me now, He set me free.

    September 11, 2001 : Paradigm Shift
Shock! When I fired the web browser today, I saw what I thought was an April Fool's joke: a picture which seems like it came from a Godzilla movie with the caption "Terror in NY, DC". Hold and behold, this was not a joke. TV, internet, radio, friends and college professors ... it has been all the talk. My professor started out his discussion on the paradigm shift:

Change from one way of thinking to another. It's a revolution, a transformation, a sort of metamorphosis. It just does not happen, but rather it is driven by agents of change.
The transformation--in those seconds overlooking the World Trade Center-- is when the plane became a weapon. Can you imagine the sight of F-15 fighters loaded with missles in Hawaii's sky as they "escort" passenger planes to Honolulu International Airport. Passenger planes ... the metamorphosis.

Now, what shall we do? My answer, do what we were suppose to do. I'm a student hoping to advance society by technology. I will continue to do so in the wake of this tragedy. Yet, I will stand proud that I'm an American, and I will do my part to keep this country running. Contribution ... transformation ... understanding ... acceptance. And my condolences.

    September 8-9, 2001 : My Piece of Sh*t Car
Just installed an engine in my Toyota due to the authorized dealer wanting to rape me 300 bucks for one -- read one-- camshaft. It was a pain in the ass but definately enjoyed the lesson learned.

Fall 2001 Semester: Cool, more free time.
Removing approximately 3 hours a day of commute time does open up a lot of possibilities. Most importantly, time to socialize and time to study. I actually don't have a time constraint that would typically occupy me because I haven't done this due to me doing that. Confusing?

Summer Vacation 2001: I loved it!
Just got back from the mainland: Fontana, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Paid for by working two jobs.

    Highlights and Stuff

  • Video of your host, brother Shelby, and cousin Cathy on Thrill Shot at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Let me be honest with you, I was afraid yet very excited; however, I still loved it! I almost shit in my pants as I was literally hanging from a 4-point harness up 265 feet in the air facing the ground. I guess, it is either baby steps (bungee jumping) or a giant leap (sky diving)? [deleted: Ride 1 of 2 (3.3MB in MPG format)]

  • Golaith is one awesome ride! Damn, roller coasters and the metal structures that make them thrill machines are an art form.

  • The river / lake expedition was fun. Fresh water swimming, plenty of toys, and no sight of buildings anywhere. It was a whopping 110 degree yet all I had to do is jump into the lake. Damn, I want to buy me some toys -- everyone on the mainland has them, including my Uncle Kevin, Haole and Proud! Nevertheless, I prefer a river run than gambling at Las Vegas. Enjoy the video! [Deleted: Tubbed Jet Ski at Lake Havasu, Arizona (3.44MB in MPG format)]

  • Gambling is not my thing. Then again, I'm a very cheap kind of guy -- who else skips lunch/breakfast or rides his bike to work for the sake of saving couple of dollars. I spent less than 50 dollars gambling, not much huh? I believe the only time I was having fun is when my mom gave me $5 which lasted me over 20 minutes, and the other time is when I tipped the waitress for my bottle of budweiser and got a shot of cleavage :-) -- call me a pervert who hates gambling.

  • Knotts Berry Farm is surprising a good theme park. The two ultimate rides are Ghostrider, a wooden roller coaster, and Surpreme Scream, a "drop" ride up 200+ feet. Check out the video of (from right to left) [Deleted: Mike, Shelby, Alika, Megan, and Cathy on Surpreme Scream (2.34MB in MPG format)].

  • More to come.

    August 12, 2001: Almost Heaven
... well almost. I was expecting more body dropped and chopped top trucks but it definately was a jaw opener. What got me is the lack of body dropped trucks; thus, the swelling of my head since I'm still the few minitruckers who can body drop a truck. From my observations, everyone is leaning toward street-cruising trucks with fast bags, and full-custom heavenly 4x4s that can toll the weekend toys. Yes, I want some toys!!!

August 3, 2001: Wrapped up another chapter
I terminated my Project Aide position at Hawaiian Electric Company. It has been fun. Thanks for the opprotunity. OK: 3 jobs down, another coming up next -- easy web page development.
