Comments from the children of Room 11, Fruitvale School, Greenbay, Auckland, New Zealand, on the story,
The Night the Wind Blew the Roof Off.

Jordan M:

I think the story was neat because there were exciting parts like when the roof came off.  Before the storm Grandma was grouchy and fussy and nothing could please her.   After the storm Grandma was happy and did not care if they washed their hands before dinner or not.  She read comics out loud at the table.  I think Grandma changed because the house was messy and she did not like cleaning it.

James Hughes:

I think the story was cool because it was funny.   A funny part was when Grandma was bouncing up and down on the bed.  Before the storm Grandma was bossy.  After the storm Grandma was nice and loving.   I think Grandma changed because of everybody caring about her.

Rhiannon Galuszewski:

I think the story was odd because the roof came off and the wind can't do that.  Before the storm Grandma was grumpy and she was fussy.  After the storm Grandma was funny and kind.  I think Grandma change because she didn't want the house.  Then the roof came off and everything got messy, and the family saved her life.

Junior Lesa:

I think the story was cool because you put a lot of expression in the story for eg. when she said the cat bit off their tongues.  Before the storm Grandma was very fussy and grumpy.  After the storm Grandma was loving, caring and nice.   I think she changed because something hard hit her on the head.

Tabitha Harris:

I think your story was exciting because you didn't use boring words like run and walk, you used words like swished.   Before the storm Grandma was fussy and always had something to whine about.   After the storm, Grandma was funny and kind, and always helped out around the house.   I think Grandma changed because she was angry with the wind and she knew she was grumpy before, so she felt sorry for her husband and Grandchildren.

Peter Luan:

I think the story was kind of boring because it was too short.  You should had some more detail to it, eg more information about what Grandma was like before the storm and why she behaved like this.  Before the storm Grandma had a fussy type of personality and she was mean and greedy.  After the storm Grandma change a lot, she was the other way around. I think Grandma changed because she tried being happy and she liked it.

Rachael Chappell:

I think the story was wonderful because it made sense and it tells other people that anybody can change.  Before the storm Grandma was always grumpy and had something mean to say.  After the storm Grandma change from being fussy to being nice and kind and helping around the house.  I think Grandma changed because she felt guilty after they saved her life and she realised that she did love her family after all.

Amy Nightingale:

I think the story was funny in some parts and boring in other parts because I only liked the part when the roof was coming off.   I liked the part when Grandma was jumping up and down as well.  Before the storm Grandma was grumpy and fussy.  After the storm Grandma was fun and playful.   I think Grandma changed because she wanted people to like her.
