Doux de Coly

July 2002

The owners have closed access due to the number of divers visiting the site. This has caused concern to the local commune due to the number of cars parking in a narrow winding road. It is also causing concern to the owner due to the problem of liability, if there is an accident at the site above or below water. No individual or group can be held responsible for the closure. If we abide by the owners wishes and keep away it could well reopen in time.

St Sauveur

the St Sauveur you now need to phone the Pompiers (fire brigade / rescue services) before and after the dive by calling 112. It is probably a good idea to phone from nearby, as the 112 number diverts to the nearest Pompiers'office, and if you are not local, they may not know what St Sauveur is.... They will want to know how many divers, whether you are qualified or students, how long you plan to dive, what your maximum depth will be, etc. If you don't speak French, now is a good time to learn some key phrases..... There is a gate that restricts access to the waters edge. One vehicle at a time may pass through the gate to unload. Please keep the gate closed at all times, and park considerately. Although the cave/water is public, the surrounding land is not. Failure to comply with this can lead to a large fine and/or confiscation of your dive kit and vehicle.

Landenouse

Problems at Landenouse A few weeks ago, some divers blocked the route down to the field leaving the farmer unable to get his tractor up to the road. The police were called and things were "unpleasant". The parking area" is private land and the owner has applied for permission to gate it off. You are therefore requested to ask at the adjoining property before parking. You may be asked to unload, and then move your vehicle to the other side of the property.
