San Ángel
| San Angel is one of the zones that best keep its traditional atmosphere where in its ancient houses, little squares and gardens, we can remember in our days the splendour times when the elite of the first years of the 20th Century went to this zone to rest in the vacations. | |||

San Angel has its origins the colonial epoque, when was stablished the convent of El Carmen, wich occupied a big terrain that goes from the present day Insurgentes Avenue to the Temple of San Jacinto. That convent had enormous vegetable gardens that provide food for the region, that in addition of the hard work of the friars, give a big wealth to the religious order that built beautiful temples that last to our days. |

| Later, in the times of Porfirio Diaz some of the richiest families of the city, bought terrains in the zone in order to built country houses, where in that epoque was a very far place, because of that, San Angel has a big number of buildings and houses that mix the elegant french architecture of the time with the traditional style of the mexican little villages. Through the years and similar that happened in Coyoacan, San Angel was incorporated to the city, but it still preserve its traditions in a place that still taste as province. | |||

In San Angelwe can found a big number of attractives, since appreciate the nice architecture of its temples and country houses by walking through its quiet streets and gardens to visit its cultural centres like Casa del Risco, that has a fantastic fountain the mix exhubertantly elements of oriental cultures with mexican ones. |

Another highlight point in the zone is the Bazar del Sabado, a open air art market on saturdays in wich you can buy a big variety of handcrafts and art pieces surrounded by the splendor and traditional colors of Mexico. Also, this neighborhood has a big gastronomic ofert, specially in San Jacinto Square where we can find nice open air terrace where is served the best of mexican and international food. A very recomendable way to know San Angel is by walking, because you can go through its beatiful alleys and streets and also you can discover by each step the squares and the gardens. |
