  Polanco is one the most exclusive and famous neighborhoods of Mexico City. This zone is distinguished by its cultural diversity, because in this district live ethnic comunities from Europe and the Middle East that in addition to its sophisticated way of life carachterizated by the big number of shopping centers, fashion stores like Christian Dior or Hermes, famous jewelries like Tiffany's and the first class hotels that gives to this zone a very strong cosmopolitan character.  
 
 
The origins of Polanco goes back to the 1920's decade when were divided the terrains that were property of the Hacienda de los Morales, in whose main house, is today one the most prestigious restaurants of Mexico City. This zone was fast occupied by the wealthy foreign merchants, that became this zone in one of the most elegants and cosmopolitans of the city. In the photo, the Anthropology Museum.

 

 
 
During the last years this neighborhood has experimented a contruction boom that has changed the zone wityh lots of hotels, shopping malls, art galleries, stores, and offices and residential skyscrapers recently stablished became this zone into one of the most important of the metropolis.

  • Visit President Masaryk Avenue with its luxury stores, shopping malls and galleries.
  • Walk trough the hotel zone and having lunch or dinner in one of its agreeable restaurants.
  • Visit the world famous Museo Nacional de Antropolog�a e Historia, with the biggest collection of prehispanic art of the world.
  • If you like the contemporary art, near to Polanco on Paseo de la Reforma Avenue are located the Rufino Tamayo Museum and the Modern Art Museum.
