  Colonia Del Valle, is one of the most pleasant and central zones of the city, is located next to the important Insurgentes Avenue. This district is known by its numerous parks, its ample and wooded streets, its animated caf�s and for to have some of the most famous buildings of Mexico City, like the World Trade Center, the Polyforum Siqueiros and the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Mary.  
 

The origins of this district go back to the prehispanic times, with the little village of Mixcoac. And later, during the Colonial times with the construction of the Temple of Saint Lorenzo, one of the first spanish constructions in Mexico that now can be appreciated in the park of the same name at a half block of Insurgentes Avenue. Years later, in times of Porifirio Diaz, started the outline of some avenues and in the terrains where before were located sand mines, was created the Parque Hundido (The Sunk Park). Since the last quarter of the 20th Century, this district has had a very intense development with the construction of luxury apartment buildings, shopping malls and cultural centers, that in addition of its central location and its parks, have turned to this zone into one of the most cosmpolitan and prestigious of Mexico City.

Insurgentes Avenue

One of the major attractions of this zone is Insurgentes Avenue, one of the most important of the city, that has parks, public squares, monuments, nice stores, shopping centers like Galerias Insurgentes and restaurants with food of all the world. Is in this Avenue where is located the World Trade Center, a big urban complex that includes offices, department stores, cinemas, an exhibitions center, hotels, and the fantasticPolyforum Cultural Siqueiros, a very interesting building with a diamond form that in each one its facades has big paints of the outstanding mexican muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros, and in its interior is the biggest mural of the world, "The march of the Humanity" where are made spectacles of light and sound on weekends; also this forum has a theater and a space for art expositions.Visit the image gallery of Colonia Del Valle!  
 

 Another attractions of this zone are its more than ten parks in this area, like the Parque Hundido (Sunk Park), that receive that name because of its difference of levels, also it has replicas of big prehispanic pieces and a beautiful floral clock. The Mariscal Sucre Park, one of the most enchanting parks of the district, with its Fountain of the Lions and the French Quiosco, surrounded by pleasant restaurantes and caf�s with terraces outdoors, that reflect the cosmopolitan air of the zone.
