Vessels in Mesoamerica were one of the most antiques ways of  art expression.

In their design we can appreciate the amazing handcraft abilities, human being creativity, and the immense necessity of making containers for food and water.  The pottery vessels were born after the need of cooking. There are many different kinds of techniques in production and decoration like for example: ones are grave, polychrome, in relieve, and seals stamped.

The prehispanic also made ceremonial visages to create different kinds of scents in their rituals, they used to keep the human ashes of their deads.  Vessels made of anthropomorphist and zoomorphism images were their way to magnify and their will to paralyze the evil spirits.

The pottery vessels have been the clue to determine the chronological age of different kinds of civilizations. The importance of  vessels is not only that they covered the human needs but also were very important in the spiritual way of living, thinking and feeling of the prehispanic world.

During Mexican ancient the creation of vessels where only women worked, they were the vessel producers in towns.  As women were in charge of feeding the family, they made the vessels as food containers in different decorative kinds of shapes, sizes and types.
