| One word describes this game, Excellent. If you think that this game is exactly like the first, but better graphics, you are wrong. This game is almost unlike the original. This game has better graphics, more cut-scenes, new monsters, more puzzles, and features a new type of weapon called a "defense weapon". This new weapon some times kills a zombie or it gives you more time to get out of the room. The story takes place in Racoon City and there are weird murder cases that people are found killed by being eaten and the source of the problem takes place in a mansion. You are either Chris or Jill and it's up to you to find the cause of the attacks and escape alive. Unlike the other Resident Evil games, ZOMBIES CAN'T DIE, you can kill them and leave a puddle of blood on the floor and / or the zombie twitches, when you leave the room and come back a little while later, you'll find the zombie up again and try to eat you, and the way to really kill a monster is cook it well done, shove a grenade in its mouth, shoot acid, or blow its brains out with a shotgun . It takes a lot of amunition to kill a zombie, so your best bet is to just run and avoid the zombies. The controls are very simple (run, action, walk, aim, shoot,...), but pushing a monster is hard. The sound is amazing, the eating, walking, thunder, and other sounds are excellent. The graphics are almost life like, even the shadows are awsome, and watching ther cut scenes are almost like watching a well done computer graphics movie. The game play is easy to get used to, but the idea of limited ink ribbons (used for saving) and ammo is not that of a bad idea because this is a survival game. also it's dumb to have one camera angle for each part of the room, because you'll find youself running into a wall while a zombie is comming to get you. All in all, Resident Evil is a perfect game with a few flaws, but people who love horror, this is a good first impression of the Resident Evil series now on GameCube. tip: save ammo, don't try to kill everything in sight, practice shoving a zombie, and pay attention to cut-scenes.
