While finding out what happened to the crew of the Archon that disapeared 100 years ago, the Enterprise learns that the people there are being controlled by a computer programed by Landru 6000 years ago to end war and strife once and for all. Kirk ignores the Prime Directive and destroyes "Landru" so that the people can be free.
Beta III Earthlike, inhabited by humans in a simple, quiet culture in System C - 111.
Facts about Landru:
The Festival- starts at 6pm and ends at 6am, where Landru's control
causes the people to go wild.
Communing- the method of communication Landru uses
Summoning the body- Landru called all the people to action at once.
Absorbed- processed through a machine for Landru to control someone
Conpulsive involumtary stimulus to action- What lead Kirk to believe that Landru wasn't a man but a machine.
Lighting Panel- a sheet of opaque plastic (looks like a kitchen cutting board) that shines light. "From a time before Landru" suggesting a previously advanced culture had existed at one time.
Resistance Underground- Betan who resist the 'will of Landru' waiting more Archons to come and help free them. Men are organized into groups of three.
