Story:

Sent to pick up a research team, and observe the break up of Psi 2000. The Enterprise finds the scientists dead, under mysterious circumstances. Lt. Joe Tormolen brings aa disease back to the crew, forcing suppressed emotions to surface. The disease is spred through direct contact with an infected person's perspiration which changes water into a complex molecule acting like alcohol in the human blood stream. Sulu becomes a modern day D'Artagnan fancying himself as a 18th C. swashbuckler.  Lt. Kevin Riley envisions himself as a decendant of Irish kings and under the influence, shuts down the engines. Spock and Kirk are also affected. Spock cries, admitting that he felt ashamed of his earth blood, on a planet (Vulcan) where emotion is concidered bad taste. Kirk's deepest fear surfaces. He fears losing the Enterprise and would do anything to save 'Her'. In one of the series most powerful scenes, they help each other overcome their inner fears. Kirk races against time before the ship is pulled into the disintegrating planet. Mr. Spock employs the 'intermix formula' that is the theoretical relationship between time and antimatter, called a controlled implosion, to restart the engines by imploding cold matter and antimatter. This has been theory only up to now and they risk going up in a firefall if done wrong. They risk all and go back in time 3 days before any of this happened.

Factoids:

Psi 2000: an ancient world about to rip apart. Earth's future becasue before its sun went dark it was remarkably similar to earth.

Spock uses the vulcan neck pinch on Sulu

McCoy uses the medical instantantious injector device to "psssst"the antitoxin

the instrument (unnamed) Spock uses to gather data on Psi 2000 looks like a Pringle Chip can. :O LOL!

Spock physiology:  pulse 242,BP "practically non existant", green ice water blood. But Chapel states that he is "part human" too. (I've always wondered, Which Part??)

Quotes:

"You dont out rank me and you dont have pointed ears, so get off my neck"
-------------------------
"Richeleu, beware!"
------------------------
"Take D'Artagnon, here, to sick bay." (classic!)
------------------------
"Now, crew, I will render 'Kathleen'. ONE MORE TIME!"
------------------------
"I am in control of my emotions"  (yeah, right:)
------------------------
"No dance tonight."
------------------------
"No beach to walk on"
------------------------

Moral:  dont take off your gloves on a frozen planet

Question:  if they went back in time 3 days, is Tormolen alive now?
