Factoids:

Life Prolongation Project- a project developed on the planet which works only on prepubescent inhabitants, causing them to age only 1 month for every 100 years. Due to the physiological changes at puberty, post adolescent humans contract a virus and die very quickly. The virus has no effect on Vulcans because of their different physiology, but exposure to the virus will make a Vulcan a carrier. McCoy and Spock develop a vaccine that cures the person.

 (I have trouble with the concept: a vaccine primes the body's immune system to form antibodies, and is used to prevent infection from a foreign antigen, but not cure after an infection is already established. If the person doesn't die from a disease, the immune system manufactures antibody's to prevent reinfection in the future. So, instead, an injection of gamma globulins, the substance already formed by the body's immune system to fight a current infection would be the better choice in terminology. (eg) you can be vaccinated against Hepatitis B with a vaccine to prevent the disease, but if you already have Hepatitis B, you are given gamma globulin specific for Hepatitis B that was made by a person who has the antibodies in their blood stream. Not that I am nit-picking, but really!)

Story

Upon Enterprise discovering an exact duplicalte of Earth around 1960, a landing team that includes Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Rand (and two red shirts) beams down and discovers a group of 300 year old children. They learn that a disease prolongs youth, but upon reaching adolescence - no matter how long it takes - it triggers madness and then death. Infected, the landing party is trapped there unless McCoy can devise a cure. In the meantime, a young woman named Miri develops a strong crush on Kirk, and is extremely jealous of the captain's affection for Rand. (got this off the net)
