The Medusans are a people deemed so ugly to look at that they drive humans insane. The Ambassodor is taken aboard the Enterprise by Dr. Miranda Jones for transport, and amidst insanity and attempted murders, we learn that Marvick is hopelessly in love with Miranda but she is a cold, heartless woman, jealous of Spock, suspicious of everyone.

Medusans: sublime and benevolent, but very hideous. transported via a box.

Vulcan Mind link-Spock and Kalos combine to form one in Spock's body sharing each others minds, but dangerous in that separate identity is hard to maintain.
