Enterprise is told to transport Elaan of Elas to her marriage ceremony at the Planet Troyius, which will result in an alliance between the two hostile worlds. It sounds like a simple enough assignment, until one takes into account the fact that the woman has no interest in the marriage, the Klingons want to see the alliance fall apart and are doing what they can to make this happen, the Troyius ambassador is assulted and Kirk falls madly in love with Elaan due to the chemical reaction of her tears on his skin.

Klingons- warship shadows the Enterprise in league with the traitor Kryton who sabotaged the ship's antimatter pods to blow up the minute they go into warp drive when the Klingons lure them into battle. Kirk demonstates his uncanny command abilities by his quick judgements under fire.

Troyas-Troyans- Green skinned people with civilized manners Emily Post would envy

Elaas-Elaasians-human like, viscious arrogant men, savage trecherous women who have a mystical power that drives men wild.

Elassian womens tears-have a biochemical reaction that acts like a super love potion and doesnt wear off, that enslaves men. (really convenient! where do I get some of that?)

Kirk wants Spock to perform the Vulcan mind meld on Kryton but doesn't get the chance.

Raydons-these common crystalline stones on Elaas are used for costume jewlery. the necklace is supposed to bring one luck. They are really valuable Dilithium Crystals, the energy source of warp drive engines. No wonder the Klingons want to de-stablized the planets, so they can get their hands on the Dilithium crystals for themselves.
