Thassus/Thassians: probes have revealed no inhabitants or vegitation. legendary inhabitants with powers to transmute objects or render them invisable. Actually, they do exist, but only in non corporeal form.They demonstrated saddness (when they discovered Charlie was gone and at the distruction of the Antares) and compassion (by saving the zapped crewmen of the enterprise) They gave Charlie 'the power' so he could live on their planet. They offer him a life and would take care of him. He would be a danger to humans and would end up having to be destroyed. But Charlie says he cant live with them anymore becasue " they dont feel, and they dont love."
Story:
Shortly after the captain of the Federation ship Antares drops off adolescent
Charlie Evans on board the Enterprise, the Antares is mysteriously destroyed.
Following other unexplained incidents, the blame falls on Charlie who reveals
himself to have incredible telekinetic abilities to alter matter and cause
people to "go away," i.e. vanish. Charlie, whose immaturity governs his
actions, becomes an even more dangerous threat when he falls in love with
Yeoman Janice Rand and will stop at nothing to get her to return his feelings.

The powers demonstrated by Charlie, (17 years old, sole survivor of a transport ship which crashed on Thassus, when he was 3. He learned to talk by listening to the ships tapes, ate the ships stored foods. Was certified 4-0, sound of wind and limb, by Dr. McCoy.) Spock doesnt believe Charlie could have survived all this time without help from somewhere so believes the legendary Thassians exist. McCoy doesnt agree.
