Story:
Captain Kirk does the computer shuffle again as the Enterprise goes to a world run by Vaal, an ancient serpant idol computer that controls the laws of nature as well as the inhabitants. While this is an idyllic world, the people are exactly like children. No cares and concerns, allowing Vaal to take care of them and, in turn, making offerings to "him" in appeasement. Kirk and company must make them see that this is wrong; that they have the right to govern themselves.
Gamma Trianguli 6: an unusual planet with lush growth and temperate climate even at the poles, orange sky, with a genereated subteranian energy source that drains the enterprise engines, effects transporter and communications, effects rapid atmospheric changes.
Massiform D: McCoy injects Spock with this after he takes poison plant darts meant for Kirk.
Universal Law:
Humanoids have the right to a free and unchained environment.
Humanoids have the right to choose a system that seems to work for
them.
Non-interference directive: Federation people are not to interfere with a society's culture by changing their ways. (Ah, but these rules are made for breaking!!!!!! As the crew of the Enterprise has demonstrated over and over.)
Quote:
"Ah, the holding. The touching. Vaal has forbidden this."
"Well, there goes paradise." McCoy.
