Learning Behaviour

1.Knowledge

Involves recognition and recall of:

  • Specific facts, terms, definitions, symbols, dates, places, e.t.c.
  • Rules, trends, categories, methods, e.t.c.
  • Principles, theories, ways of organising ideas.

2. Comprehension

Involves ability to use learning:

  • Translating, paraphrasing.
  • Interpreting, summarising.
  • Extrapolating, predicting effects or consequences.

3. Appliciation

Involves ability to use learning in a variety of situations:

  • Using principles and theories.
  • Using abstractions.

4. Analysis

Involves breaking down the whole hierarchy of parts:

  • Identifying or distinguishing parts or elements
  • Discovering interactions or relationships between parts.
  • Relating organizational principles (parts to whole to parts)

5. Synthesis

Involves combining elements into a new whole:

  • Identifying and relating elements in new ways.
  • Arranging and combining parts.
  • Constructing a new whole.

6. Evaluation

Involves judgements of value of material and methods for a given purpose:

  • Judgements in terms of internal standarts.
  • Judgements in terms of external criteria.
