My Personal Theory
For what it's worth, here's my personal theory about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
I believe there were actually two conspiracies involved related to the assassination. The first conspiracy was a group involved in conspiring to kill the president. The second conspiracy was a group involved in covering up the assassination, and may have done so, believing it was for the good of the country.
First I will deal with what I believe to be the conspiracy to kill the president.
I think the story put together by Stephen Rivele, of professional killers from outside the U.S., hired by U.S. organized crime, aka, the mafia, could very well be correct. I've heard or read several stories, naming several different people as the assassins, but to me, this one makes the most sense, and sounds very believable.
I believe the mafia heads most likely involved in hiring to have Kennedy killed, were New Orleans boss at the time, Carlos Marcello, and Florida boss at the time, Santos Trafficante, Jr. Trafficante's lawyer, Frank Ragano, has said Trafficante made a deathbed confession that he was involved in having Kennedy killed. According to testimony during the House Committee to Investigate Assassinations, Trafficante had said in Sept. 1962, that Kennedy would not be re-elected in 1964, saying, "He is going to be hit."
Marcello had a bitter hatred of the Kennedy's. Robert Kennedy, while Attorney General, had Marcello deported to Guatemala. Marcello had reportedly once talked about the killing of Kennedy. When an aid asked if he meant Robert, he daid he was talking about the president, saying if you cut off the tail, the dog will continue to bite you, that you must cut off the head, meaning killing the president would take away Robert Kennedy's power.
I am unsure of Oswald's role in the assassination. I feel he was aware that it was going to take place, but have my doubts that he did any shooting. Parifin tests taken after he was arrested did not show any trace of gunpowder on his face, which would be expected if he had fired a rifle. The fact that he was seen on the second floor, such a short time after the shooting, leads me to believe that he may have been exactly what he said he was, "a patsy." Oswald can also be tied to Carlos Marcello. His uncle, Charles Murret, was an associate of Marcello.
I believe the second conspiracy, was the conspiracy to cover up the assassination.
In a previously secret memo of then FBI head J. Edgar Hoover's, a memo dated Nov. 24, 1963, to new President Lyndon Johnson, Hoover states, "The thing I am most concerned about, and so is Mr. Katzenbach (Deputy Attorney General at the time), is having something issued so we can convince the public that Oswald is the real assassin." What this essentially means, is that while Oswald was in a Dallas morgue, not even totally cold, the head of the FBI was already announcing his guilt, and his guilt alone. What this also means, is the Warren Commission had one job to do when it came to be, and it wasn't to investigate the Kennedy assassination. The Warren Commission's job was to prove, whether true or not, that Lee Harvey Oswald, and Lee Harvey Oswald alone, killed President John F. Kennedy.
Why do this?
Lone gunmen proponents would say, to believe that is simply believing too many people were directly involved in conspiring to kill the president. Not so, this group of people are just trying to cover it up. Why cover it up?
While Oswald was in custody, the evidence coming out of Dallas, was that he was a Communist, involved in something called the "Fair Play For Cuba Committee", a group in favor of Cuba's rights. He had defected to the Soviet Union a few years before. If evidence came out that Cuba or the Soviet Union had sent this man to assassinate the President of the United States, the powers that be risked outrage from the American public and/or politicians, that could lead to an invasion of Cuba, which in turn could lead to World War III. The first World War began after the assassination of the Arch Duke Ferdinand in the streets of Sarajevo. Could anyone blame them for wanting to make sure history did not repeat itself.
