OBJECTIVE:
Walkthrough
A quick note: This walkthrough only covers major items that are required to complete the game, and explains how to get them in the correct order and easiest way.  It does not cover missile expansions, power bomb expansions, or energy tanks.  This walkthrough is designed to guide you through the game when you are stuck.  If you are so dependant on a walkthrough that you want it to have all the item locations, and tell you where every little enemy is, you aren't really playing -- the walkthrough is.  To see locations of all the small items so you can get 100% at the end, see the Items page.

Frigate Orpheon:  The Hunter has Landed
This part is way too easy.  Just shoot the little red circles to open the shield.  Then, behind the shield, scan the little thingy straight ahead.  Shoot more red circles and now you can get inside the frigate.  Once inside, scan the console to pressurize the room.  Continue until you get to the room with the giant rotting alien corpse.  There are some parasites and a wounded pirate in here; these are the first real enemies.  In the next room, blast through the pile of junk by holding A to charge your beam, and shooting a hole in it.  Keep going and you will see a couple of parasites go through a tunnel.  Use the morph ball to follow them to the map room.  Download the map, go back out through the tunnel, and open the next door.  Take the elevator down a level.  Now down here, you will need to roll through some stuff, avoiding some electricity and sparks on the way.  In the next two rooms you just meet a couple pirates and a turret.  After all that, the next room has yet another turret, but I will just make a quick note that when using the scan visor, one of the computers has a red square.  That's pirate data.  Scan it if you care.  Then go up the elevator here, take out some pirates, and go into the next room.  Keep going until you see a turret.  Blast it, and then scan the computer and ride the elevator.  Just another pirate and two parasites down here.  Scan another computer and roll onto the hologram with the Morph Ball.. When the door opens, blast the two turrets.  Ahh, that's better.  The door on the left leads to a save station.  Go save, because a boss is coming up.  After saving, scan yet another computer and roll onto another hologram.  The door opens and you walk in to find the first boss.
Okay, this isn't too hard.  Scan the Parasite Queen to find a weak spot at the mouth.  Now lock on, and circle it, dodging it's attacks until there is a gap in the shield.  Then hit it with whatever you want: missiles, charge beams, whatever.  After a while it should croak.  Keep in mind that you can dash when you are locked on by holding left or right and pressing B.  What really sucks about this boss is it likes to take you down with it.

Escape from the Frigate:  .........................BOOM!!!
Okay, you need to run away like a wuss now to avoid being incinerated.  They give you more than enough time.  Just hop up the steps and through the next door.  Scan the elevator console and ride up, and then once up there scan the console on the wall to disable the turret.  In the next room some pirates try to kill a Parasite Queen and get blown away.  After watching those spectacular fireworks, go past the tank and hop up the broken platforms.  Don't try to jump across to get to the door you came in.  It won't work.  Keep going away from that door.  Kill two pirates and keep going until a vent explodes.  Climb on in.  It is much quicker to actually roll the whole way.  Make some attempt to dodge parasites, but don't freak out.  They aren't that strong.  Keep rolling until you get to Ventilation Shaft E where a huge thing flies across your screen and blocks your way, then retracts again.  Follow it back into there and when it reveals a door on the right, go through.  Keep moving until you see the ugly dragon named Ridley.  Or, well, it's Meta Ridley now.  Who cares?  Anyway, aim for the grapple points and hold L to launch it.  Oh, you'll figure it out.  Once across the room, go through the next door.  In here, scan the console to shut off the turret, and continue.  Watch the flying sparks.  Activate the elevator and watch the scene.  Uh oh, Samus lost her pretty weapons.  Continue up the elevator.  Keep going until a room depressurizes.  You should know what to do.  Just keep running until the next scene plays.  When you land on the planet, save the game, because that frigate is a pain in the ass.

Tallon IV:  Get ready to get lost, because this planet is huge!
There are five doors when you first land on Tallon IV.  You can't get to two of them and two more are useless for the moment.  Go through the door that is to the right of your ship.  Two Beetles will pop out at you, just to let you know.  Continue.  There are some new creatures in the next room.  But, for now just walk through the bottom of the canyon and through the next door.  Keep going until you get to an elevator.  Scan the console nearby to activate it, and step into the hologram.  Watch the cutscene as Samus stands there and the elevator goes up...  How amazing...  Step out of the elevator and into the next room.  The shimmering panel on the wall is Chozo Lore.  Scan it if you want.  There are also two beetles in here.  Continue through the next door.  Now you're in the plaza.

Missile Launcher:  Head across the Main Plaza in Chozo Ruins (see above if you don't know how to get there), go up some broken step things, and turn left through a door.  In the next two hallways you will see Scarabs and Eyons but they're easy to kill or avoid.  When you get to the nursery, there are some beetles and war wasps.  Hop up the platforms near the red leaves and there are two doors.  Ther far one is a save room.  The close one is... the next room.  In the next four rooms you got scarabs, blastcaps, war wasps, plazmites...  Keep going until you get to the Hive Totem.  The water is poison here, just to let you know.  Jump onto the middle platform and start to walk across the bridge and...
Well, there's a mini boss.  Ram War Wasps will attack you.  They circle around you, and then ram you.  You can hit them when they are circling but it's hard.  When they stop to ram you, shoot them dead before they can.  After the first swarm is dead, a red light will appear on the nearby machine.  Lock on and BLAST IT!!!  Repeat, repeat...  It will die eventually.  Walk across the bridge now and get the missile launcher.  Now you can go back to the Main Plaza.

Morph Ball:  In the Main Plaza there is a missile door at ground level.  Blast it open.  Shoot through some scarabs and into the next room.  Hop over the wall and walk toward the Morph ball... I got it!!!... I mean... DOH!!!  A wall goes up and beetles appear.  After they are dead a Plated Beetle will appear.  Wait until it charges, and dodge it.  Turn around and shoot the red part of it's abdomen.  After a while of this it will die.  Grab the morph ball, and roll through the hole in that first wall to get back where you came from.  Now go back to the main plaza.

Now you can hop up the platforms at the Main Plaza up to the bridge and go across, and through the door.  Roll through the tunnel with the Morph Ball.  In the next room, take the door on the left.  Go through the hallway and into the room with the big tree, the Arboretum.  For now, just go to the door on the opposite side at ground level.  Go through the hallway into the next big room.  In here, the Gathering Hall, there are three more doors.  To the right, a save station.  There is also a door to the left, and a door on the top level.

Morph Ball Bomb: Hop up the platforms and then when you get to a red tunnel, roll through.  The door is ahead of you now.  Jump across the broken bridge, but be careful; there are shriekbats.  Go through the door up here.  Go through the next two rooms and you will be in the Energy Core.  For now just turn left and go through the next Morph Ball tunnel you see.  Keep rolling until you get to the Incinerator Drone.
It isn't that hard.  Just avoid the fire until the "head" comes out (the little red light) and blast it.  It will shoot fire at the bee hive.  They will come out.  Kill any that attack you while avoiding the fire, and shoot the drone whenever the head comes out.  After it's dead you can get the Morph Ball bombs.  Now you need to learn another trick.  If you drop a bomb and stay still, the bomb will explode under you and launch you up into the air.  This is called a "bomb jump".  So, bomb jump through the hole in the wall (where you came from).  Now you can go back to the Gathering Hall.

Charge Beam: Go through the door to the left of where you entered the Gathering Hall and through the next hallway.  In the next room you need to scan four runes.  The first is on the same wall as the entrance door.  Another is under a pile of Blastcaps.  Hop up to and across the higher platforms, killing reaper vines on the way.  When you get to the huge gate, scan the nearby rune to your right.  Then drop from here to ground level near the gate and scan the last one.  Make your way up again and scan the fifth rune in the middle of the gate itsself.  After it drops, go in and grab the Charge Beam.

Varia Suit: Go back to the Arboretum, the room with the big tree.  There are four more runes here.  One is at water level underneath some Venom Weed.  There is another about halfway up the tree where the little bridge to the wall is.  Roll along the wall and bomb the boxes in your way.  Then get up and scan another rune.  Roll through another tunnel on the wall after shooting venom weed out of the way.  Keep jumping until you get to the door with the runes on it.  Nearby on the tree there is the fourth rune.  Now bomb the hole in the wall where the door was.  Go through the next two rooms and then into the Sunchamber... now you fight Flaahgra.
For those who care, keep in mind that you can scan the main part and the tentacle blocking the holes.  Anyway, here's how to beam him.  A mirror will move and reflect sunlight at Flaahgra.  You need to keep shooting Flaahgra with stuff until it's stunned.  Then sidestep over so the red dot on the mirror is where your aimer is, and shoot it with a charge beam.  The mirror will get knocked back, and Flaahgra will fall.  Now, go into morph ball mode.  Roll around Flaahgra until you find one of the holes that used to have a tentacle sticking out of it.  After the tentacle retreats, you can roll into the hole across the bridge and set a bomb in the slot.  The next time Flaahgra gets up there will be two mirrors, then three, and then four.  Just repeat this until one of you dies and the fight is over.  If you win, you can get the Varia Suit.
Go through the next door after getting the Varia Suit and shoot the boxes in this hallway to get a lot of stuff.  Dodge the Bombu.  Jump down the Sun Tower.  Leave the sun tower and you will be in a Transport room, but don't go down yet.  There are two other doors.  One leads to the Missile Launcher room and you can get an energy tank.  The other leads to the Vault where there's a missile expansion and then an energy tank past that.  If you got them already or don't care, you can go down into Magmoor Caverns.

Getting from Magmoor Caverns to Phendrana Drifts:
There aren't any major items to get in Magmoor Caverns until you take a trip to Phendrana.  There are some missile expansions and stuff though.  This part of the walkthrough will guide you through the important steps to get to Phendrana and anything else important.
Anyway, after you get out of the elevator room in Magmoor just jump down to the bottom of the room and go through the next door.  In this room there is a door to a save room if you want to save.  The other door leads further into the caverns.  The next room has a couple grizbies, and then the next has burrowers.  After that you should be in the Lava Lake.  Watch out for the Magmoor worm things.  Jump across the platforms to the other side of the room and bomb the weak section of sandstone in the wall.  Then keep going until you get to the Pit Tunnel.  I usually don't explain enemies but the Triclopses here are annoying.  Before they grab you, lay a bomb so they grab that instead.  After morph-balling your way through here you should be in the Triclops pit.  You can go under the floor here and find your way to a missile expansion, but the main point here is to jump across the floating platforms to get to the next door, into the monitor tunnel, and then into the monitor station.  Kill the turrets.  The lower door on the other side of the room leads to an elevator to Tallon Overworld.  Find your way across the platforms on a far wall to get up to the little fort.  There is a bridge here that leads to Transport Tunnel A,  which leads to the Transport to Phendrana Drifts North.  Congratulations.  Once at Phendrana Drifts, blast through the ice with your charge beam and go into the main room.  There is a save point at the other side of the main area.

Boost Ball: On ground level in Phendrana Shorelines there is a gate that can be destroyed by a missile.  Blast it away.  Now roll inside and scan the screen to unlock the door above.  Use the platforms on the wall to get up there, and go through.  Blast through ice in the next room with charge beam or a missile.  Roll under the Scatter Bombu, incase you don't know what to do with these.  The next room is Ice Ruins East, where you see Baby Sheegoths.  You need to dash behind them and shoot their backs.  After you deal with them, jump up the platforms and rooftops to the next door.  Go through this hallway and you will be back in the main room.  Walk across the ledge, through the door and next hallway, into Ice Ruins West.  Go find the missile door and enter.  The next big room you enter is the Canyon.  Jump down onto the bridge, and go to the console somewhere to the right and scan it.  Platforms will align.  Jump across the platforms that align and you will find yourself in front of the Morph Ball.  You can play around with the half pipe in the canyon.  After you're done messing around, boost up to the canyon-side path and walk to the entrance.  Soon you will be told to go to Tallon Overworld by that helpful hint system.

Space Jump Boots: From Phendrana Drifts, head back down to Magmoor Caverns - Monitor Station.  One door in here leads to the Shore Tunnel, which leads to the Fiery Shores.  In this room, dodge the flame throwers, then jump across the lava to the platform with the boxes, then to the platform with the tunnel.  Roll through, and drop out at the next door.  In the next room, roll up the ridge on the left and along the rails to the other side, and to the next room.  In here there is an elevator to Tallon Overworld.  Go to the canyon in Tallon Overworld and boost up the halfpipe.  Across the bridge there are walls to bomb.  The resulting path eventually leads to the Landing site but DON'T jump down.  Walk across the elevated ledge you're on which leads to another door where you get the Space Jump boots.  Being the first time you need to return to Tallon Overworld, this is also a good time to go into the Artifact Temple, which, if you haven't been there, should be one of the last unexplored doors.

Artifact of Truth: There is a door you can easily get to at the Landing Site that is elevated above the ground.  Just jump up some platforms near the waterfall to get there.  There are some annoying enemies and a missile door in the next hallway..  Just walk in, head down the ramps, get the Artifact of Truth, and scan the little bird heads, which provide hints on how to get the Artifacts...  You don't have to do this now so I'll bring it up later as well.  Make your way back to Phendrana Drifts.

Artifact of Strength: Go back to Magmoor Caverns - Monitor Station and go to the bridge that leads to the Phendrana Drifts elevator.  Jump up the near by platform and up to the higher bridge.  Use the spinner up here to activate the bridge and then head for the highest door.  Once you enter that room it's right in front of you.

Wave Beam: Go back to the main area of Phendrana Drifts, the Shorelines.  You should be able to access the elevated platforms now (the really high ones) with the space jumping technique.  This will help you reach the last unexplored door.  Make your way to the Chozo Ice Temple, where you find a bunch of crystallites and ice parasites.  Jump up the platforms until you see a statue in front of you.  There are two statues on the left wall, and two on the right in this part of the room.  The far one on the right side can be broken with missiles, revealing a morph ball slot.  Bomb it and a new way will open.  Soon you will find your way into a morph ball maze.  Just bomb the metal block ahead of you to get underground, then bomb the two white parts of the pillar to reveal a new path above.  Bomb your way back up, then do it all over again for the next pillar.  Next up- the room with the Wave Beam.
Unfortunately, there's a boss.  Well, miniboss, because you see them regularly after you get better weapons.  After defeating four Baby Sheegoths, a real Sheegoth will come out.  It's hard to kill.  If you use your power beam it will get absorbed.  While avoiding death by a severe trampling, wait until it shoots something at you, and then shoot a few missiles while it's sitting there hyperventilating.  It's really cool when it uses it's cold breath attack and needs to rest for several seconds, giving you time to get a lot of damage in.  After it's dead, grab the Wave Beam.  For those who don't know yet, to get out of here you'll have to open the purple door with the Wave Beam.

~Super Missile: Go to Ice Ruins West, where there is a purple door to open.  You will need to climb up inside the buildings until you see a stalactite in front of you.  Shoot it down, and you can get to a new place.  A few more jumps and the purple door should be within your grasp.  Through this door and the next hallway is the Ruined Courtyard.  There are two spinners here: one on each side of the room.  Activate them both.  Then find the Morph Ball slot, which is on a platform above one of the spinners.  There are platforms leading up to it.  Activating the slot will make the water rise.  Jump across the floating platforms to get to the other side of the room.  You can use the floating platforms to get on top of the structure in the middle.  Once on top, you'll see three doors.  One has no power so that leaves a blue door to a save room and a purple door.  Save if you wish, and continue through the purple one.  When you walk in, watch out for a shadow pirate.  They are easy to see once you get teh thermal visor.  Continue after he is dead.  When you enter the research entrance you see pirates and a turret.  Dispose of them...  Then, go to the map station on ground level and then up the ramp to a new room, which leads to Research Lab Hydra.  Before I go any further I must tell you that there is a lot of pirate data in the next few rooms.  A LOT...  Head of the ramps in Hydra and head to through the next hallway.  In here, scan the computer to unlock the door.  Head into the Observatory, and kill the enemies you find.  Scan a computer to activate two morph ball slots, which activate four spinners, which turn on the hologram, which has planets you can scan.  Now head to the top of the room and get the Super Missile Combo.  There are two purple doors.  One leads to a save station, the other leads further in...

Thermal Visor: From the observatory, head into the West Tower Entrance, and then the West Tower and ride up the lift.  When you enter the next room, fight some pirates... well, a lot of pirates... then you can go down the East Tower.  A couple more doors to go through and you're in Research Lab Aether.  In here there is a Metroid in a tank.  It seems to be the only creature you have to scan.  Once you scan it, it will bust out and you have to kill it.  It's pretty simple.  Hit it with... whatever you want, and when it tries to latch onto your face, shoot a charge beam or a missile.  Fight some pirates and you can leave.  If you really want to know how to open tanks in here (such as the one with the Energy Tank) then fine, I'll tell you.  Fire a missile.  Move through the hallway to the Research Core to find more pirates.  Don't jump down or you'll have to go back up.  Look for consoles on your way down with the scan visor that have red squares.  There should be three of these that unlock the shield around the visor.  Grab it and the lights go out, a perfect opporitunity to use it.  Near the door you came in, use the thermal visor to see a power conduit.  Blast it with your wave beam.  Head back to the Ruined Courtyard, fighting off some freaks on the way.

Spiderball: There are many places that you need spiderball to get to, and some missile expansions and other bonuses that this helps you get.  It's a wierd item.  You'll see when you get it.  Anyway, go to the Ruined Courtyard.  Use the Super Missile to blast open the Cordite structure above the door that didn't have power.  Use the thermal visor to find the power conduit, and blast it with the wave beam.  Now you can go through.  Walk through one hallway, roll through the next one.  You will find yourself in the Quarantine Cave up against Thardus, the giant radioactive rock monster.  It can be annoying the first time, but I must say this boss is the most fun out of all of them.  Here's how to kill it...  You can't target it with your combat visor.  Switch to your thermal visor and locate the red glowing rock.  Lock onto it and shoot it with everything you have.  After a while, the rock will explode, and your thermal visor will overload.  Switch to the combat visor and you can now see the inside of the blue rock.  Shoot it until it explodes, and then switch back to your thermal visor and do it again, and again, and again...  Seven times alltogether.  The thing you need to know about this boss is that you have to keep dodging and dashing using the B button while locked on.  He will throw rocks at you, shoot ice at you, and even roll on you.  You can shoot the rocks he throws to get stuff, but if they hit you it's a pain in the ass.  After he is dead, get the Spiderball.

Back to the Ruins: Right after you get the Spiderball in the Quarantine Cave:  Find the spiderball track that goes all the way to the top so you can roll around the outside to get out of here.  Go through another tunnel and you will be in an elevator again.  Go to Magmoor Caverns.  One door down here is a save room, and the other leads to a hallway, which leads to a big room, the Magmoor Workstation.  When you get here, go to the LEFT door.  Make your way across the South Core Tunnel and Geothermal Core, shoot down some stalactites in the North Core Tunnel and Twin Fires, and spider ball your way across Twin Fires Tunnel.  You should now be at an elevator to Tallon Overworld, where you can easily get to Chozo Ruins using the elevator near Tallon Canyon.

Artifact of Wild: When you have time, go back to Chozo Ruins - Sun Tower.  Activate the four runes (two on pillars, two behind statues) and roll up the spiderball track.  Once up here, proceed to the Sunchamber.  Fight some Chozo Ghosts and grab the artifact off of the dead Flaahgra.

~WaveBuster: Go to Chozo Ruins - Ruined Shrine, where you got the Morph Ball.  There is a half pipe here.  Up on top of the left side is a tunnel leading to a spiderball track.  Ride it across the ceiling to the purple door.  Make your way to the Tower of Light.  Jump up to a platform in the middile.  On all four sides of you are pillars, and there is a section in each that is cracked.  Shoot each one with three missiles.  When they fall, jump up another level and do it again, and again.  Now jump up and get the WaveBuster!

Ice Beam: If you haven't already figured this out, go to the Energy Core in Chozo Ruins and turn left.  Near the tunnel that you went through on your way to get the power bombs, there is a stone toad.  Roll into it's mouth and bomb it, and then head through the opening the explosion makes.  You'll find yourself in a chamber with a morph ball slot.  Bomb it to drain the water, and then go down below where the water once was and hit another morph ball slot.  Platforms will raise.  Go through the passage that is now available.  A third morph ball slot will raise a few more platforms so you can get to a door that leads to the furnace.  The lower tunnel leads to a energy tank, but now that you have the spiderball you can take the high road.  This leads into the main part of the furnace.  Under a Chozo Lore panel there is a tunnel to roll through which eventually leads to the Crossway, and then into a hallway, which leads to the Hall of the Elders.  You fight your first Chozo Ghost in here.  They can only be killed with the Power Beam.  These can be easily defeated with a couple Super Missiles.  After that's done, turn into a ball and jump into the statue's hands.  He will fling you at a spiderball track so hold R.  After rolling along the track you will get to a ball slot, which turns on some more ball slots with shields on them.  Jump up some platforms to get up there and shoot the purple one with your wave beam, and bomb it...  Go into the statue's hands again and it will fling you somewhere else, where you can scan a console and unlock a force shield.  Go through the blue door up near the shield you unlocked.  Head to the Reflecting Pool, jump in, and bomb the plug in the bottom.  Now boost up the side.  On the left of the half pipe there's the door to the ice beam.  Hooray!  The one to the right of the half pipe is a save room, and beyond that an elevator.  The third door up here is an elevator too but for now we won't go there.  Go to the elevator near the save room and ride it.  You will eventually end up at the frigate crash site in a high place.  You could go into the frigate but you wouldn't get far.  You need the gravity suit.  It is in Phendrana Drifts, so use Tallon Overworld's Magmoor Elevator, and then make your way through Magmoor to the elevator near the Magmoor Workstation to get there.  But on the way, you might want to consider getting an artifact.

Artifact of Nature: Now that you have the super missile you can get the Artifact in Magmoor Caverns - Lava Lake.  Shoot a super missile at a large pillar in here.  Then jump in the hole you made to get it.  Anyway...

Gravity Suit: Coming to Phendrana Drifts through that elevator (...the one near the Magmoor Workstation...) should put you near the Quarantine Cave.  This elevator room has a white ice beam door in it.  Go through...  Go past the bombus.  When you get to the Frozen Pike, go through the purple door across the room that is above the water.  This eventually leads to the Frost Cave, where there is a Hunter Metroid.  These are stronger than normal ones but you can handle it.  Shoot some stalactites down to get access to some doors.  One leads to a save station.  The other leads to a tunnel which leads to Phendrana's Edge.  Go through the door at the bottom here.  Next stop: Hunter Cave.  Where you want to get in here is the nearest door on the right.  Shoot all of the stalactites down to get there.  You will end up in the Gravity Chamber.  This is where the gravity suit is, but on your way to it, watch out for Aqua Reapers.  Now exit through the other door and through a hallway and you will be back in the Hunter Cave.  Run along to the other door which leads back to the Frozen Pike.  You should be able to make it back to the Frigate Crash Site from here.

Getting to the Phazon Mines: Go back to the Frigate Crash Site in Tallon Overworld.  In case you have trouble getting to the other side of the lake, there is an underwater cave with a morph ball tunnel and... presto!  Anyway, enter the Frigate through the Ice Beam door.  Run, roll, whatever through the next two hallways until you get to Main Ventilation Shaft B.  There is a door with no power.  Once again you need to find a power conduit with the thermal visor..  Shoot it with the wave beam.  Continue through the door now.  Make your way through the crabs in the next shaft.  After killing the aqua pirates in the Reactor Core, scan around for some power conduits.  There are four of them.  Then continue.to the next room which has a door to a save room, and a door without power.  Shoot the two conduits.  Now you should be in a cargo freight lift room.  Just start looking for conduits right away.  Climb the broken lift, looking for conduits as you go..  In the next room, there's nothing.  In the room after that, there are some enemies.  There are also two power conduits above the water and one below the water.  Go through the underwater door when power is restored.  Through the next hall is Biotech Research Area 1.  There are two power conuits downstairs and one upstairs.  From here on, there are no more power conduits so just keep going until you get to the Great Tree Hall.  Go through the ice beam door.  Walk through the room with the "radiation warning" and you'll be at the elevator to the Phazon Mines.

Power Bombs: We're finally at the Phazon Mines.  Here Samus finds lots of Phazon and LOTS of Pirates.  Anyway, when you get off the elevator and make your way to the Main Quarry you'll be greeted by pirates and Mega Turrets.  The door above the spiderball track in here leads to a save station.  The other ground level door is blocked by a force field that is deactivated by scanning two nearby consoles.  Through the door is Security Access A and then Mine Security Station.  As you move through here, ignore the red door behind the force field.  Concentrate on the pirates.  (The purple Wave Troopers here can only be killed with the wave beam.)  Head through the purple door at the end.  Go through Security Access B.  Now you're in the Elite Research room.  After killing pirates, scan a console to activate platforms.  On the next level, fight pirates, then go to the console where they came from and scan it to activate more platforms.  Head up to the top (fight power troopers) and head out the ice door.  Roll down the spider rail in Research Access and go through the next door to Ore Processing.
~Pillar Puzzle:  In this room there is a puzzle... well, kinda.  You need to rotate parts of the pillar.  Hop in the morph ball slot and bomb it until the top part of the blue track connects on the left.  Ride up the blue track.  On the next level, bomb the morph ball slot until the red track connects on the left.  Then drop down and ride the red track from the bottom.  Now you can leave through the ice door.  Jump or roll down down the next shaft into an Elevator room.  Scan the console and walk into the hologram.  Down here, blast your way through Elite Control Access and enter Elite Control.  In here you fight your first Elite Pirate.
~ Elite Pirate ~  This is kinda like a mini boss.  When it comes at you, watch out.  Stay away from it because it punches you if you get too close, and when it uses it's shock wave attack, just jump.  Pound him with Super Missiles until he dies, or use the Thermal Visor to target the gun on his back first and blast it off him.  With enough hits he will die.  Then you fight three Ice Troopers, and you can leave.
In the Ventilation Shaft, plated puffers and toxic gas will spill into the room so for now, just get the hell out.  In Omega Research, exit through the white door on the floor.  Through the next hallway is the Central Dynamo.  A stupid invisible Drone will attack you.  It can't be locked on to so just fire a well aimed super missile when you see it.  After the hole opens, navigate the floor maze.  If you see a greyish blob on the floor, bomb it to open some new paths.  When you reach the middle of the maze you get power bombs.  In this room there are two more doors, one to a save station and one to a place that you don't need to go to yet.  So, go back to get the grapple beam.

Artifact of Warrior: Now that you have Power Bombs you can go back to Elite Research and bomb the tank on the bottom.  Then you fight th big ugly pirate.  It isn't much harder than any other elite pirate.  After it's dead grab the Artifact of Warrior.

Grapple Beam: The next thing to do after getting the Power Bombs in the Central Dynamo is go back to Ore Processing.  On the way, you can power bomb some rubble in Omega Research to find a door to a map station.  In the Ventilation Shaft, power bomb a panel on the floor, roll underground, and scan a console on the other side to clear the poison and puffers, and get another pretty prize... anyway, go back to Ore Processing.  On this level there is rubble blocking another morph ball slot.  Power bomb the rubble.  Use the Morph Ball slot to make the top of the yellow track line up with the platform on the other side of the pillar.  You can't see it from the morph ball slot.  Make sure everything on the yellow track lines up right, and then ride to the top.  One door up on this top level leads to the Grapple Beam (HOORAY) and the other moves on to the next room.  You will have to swing to this second door. Yay!

X-Ray Visor: Go through the top door in Ore Processing and enter the Waste Disposal area.  Go through the water-maze and enter the Main Quarry.  From here, go back to the elevator to Tallon Overworld.  In the Great Tree Hall, head up to the spinner and open the gate.  Keep going up to the spider rail on the pole.  Ride this up to the top.  Go through the door up here and bomb open the hole to enter a Morph Ball maze again.  Half Pipe in here.  Annoying...  Anyway, when you reach the Life Grove, grab the X-Ray Visor.  Use a power bomb to blow down some walls.

I'll tell you how to get the hell out of here after this short section on the Artifact of Chozo.

Artifact of Chozo: In Tallon Overworld - Life Grove, go find the deep water and bomb the little circle to make the pillar rise.  Use the boost ball in the spinner on the pillar to make another part of the ground rise to reveal the artifact.  Jump up to higher ground and then jump to the pillar and walk across to pick up the artifact.

Getting Out Of The Life Grove: Okay, jump up the platforms on one side of this room, go through a morph ball maze on the wall, and jump across some bridges the trees.  You will have to fight some Chozo Ghosts.  Once they are dead, go back up where you were and go into the hole near the statue to get up to where you started.

Plasma Beam: Go to Magmoor Caverns by way of the Root Cave in Tallon Overworld (you end up in Transport to Tallon Overworld West) and then go through the door to Twin Fires Tunnel, and keep going in that direction until you get to the Geothermal Core.  At the Geothermal Core, jump up some platforms where you can reach a grapple point.  Use the grapple beam to swing across.  Use some spinners on the platforms on these columns until you get to the one with the spiderball track.  Use the spinner there too and then you can get to the spiderball track easily.  Up here you will find a morph ball slot that raises the cieling to reveal a huge spiderball track.  There are no tricks or dead ends, just plated parasites that you can kill with bombs.  Other than that, it's easy.  When you get to the top, enter the door and get the plasma beam.  This is by far the coolest weapon.  Charge it up to kill almost anything.

~Ice Spreader: While you're in Magmoor Caverns, go to the Shore Tunnel, and put a power bomb in the middle of the tunnel.  Go down under the bridge to get it.

Since you're in Magmoor Cavers, it isn't that hard to get to Phendrana Drifts, so I'll tell you about these artifacts now.

Artifact of Sun: Go to Phendrana Drifts - Chozo Ice Temple.  Go upstairs to the statue and use the plasma beam to thaw it's hands out.  Jump into it's hands and morph into a ball to open a new tunnel.  Roll inside.

Artifact of Elder: Go to Phendrana Drifts - Control Tower.  There are two towers, one on each side.  Each has a door that leads to the elevator inside.  However, you can also jump up to an area above the door and go through an opening to the upper part of the tower.  One of them has boxes in it.  Behind them is a window covered in ice.  Blast the ice with the plasma beam, and shoot a missile through the window at some gas tanks on the outside of another nearby tower.  It will fall to the ground, breaking a hole in the floor.  Now you can use the morph ball to roll inside.  To get out, roll up the tower and out the top.

Artifact of Spirit: In Phendrana's Edge, climb and swing up to a platform on the wall that has ice on it.  Check the wall with thermal goggles to make sure this is the right one; you will be able to see a door behind the wall if it is.  Set a power bomb and open the red door.

You can do these things at a different time, but going to Chozo Ruins now gives you an easy path to the Phazon Mines which is your next MAIN destination, and you might as well get artifacts on the way.

Artifact of World: Go to the Chozo Ruins, go to the Hall of the Elders, and shoot the plasma beam at the red morph ball slot to unlock it, and then bomb the slot to open an ice door under the statue.  Hop on in and get the artifact.

Artifact of Lifegiver: In Chozo Ruins, go to the Tower of Light by way of the Ruined Shrine.  You'll notice there is water at the bottom of the Tower.  Go down there and find the underwater door.  In that room is the Artifact of Lifegiver.

          ~
Flamethrower: Now go back to the Reflecting Pool in Chozo Ruins.  Remember that there are two elevators.  One that has a save room near it, and then the "other one".  Use the "other one" to get to the Great Tree Hall.  From here, get to the Phazon Mines.  Notice that this is the way you got here the first time.  You could have gotten to the mines from the Magmoor Workstation, but i believe this works better.  You also get a flamethrower beam combo!  Anyway... Make your way to the Mine Security Station.  On the top floor there is a wall that you can power bomb.  Scan the console behind it to deactivate the force shield below.  Go through the red door and PRESTO!

Phazon Suit & Phazon Beam: Go back to the Central Dynamo.  The unexplored door leads to Quarantine Access, then to Metroid Quarantine A.  If you weren't using my walkthrough all the way here you might have been to Metroid Quarantine A before.  Anyway, the point is, go there.  Scan a console in here to open a shield containing Metroids.  They will be released and after killing the pirates, will come after you.  Just keep killing Metroids as you go.  When you get to the area with the huge Phazon pool, stand on top of the giant mushroom and look around with your X-Ray visor.  Jump across the invisible platforms.  On the other side there is another mushroom and then a platform to jump onto, and from there you can see another invisible platform with the visor.  Jump across to the platform with the spider ball track.  Ride it to the next door.  FINALLY, you're out of that room.  Go through another hall, a small elevator, and into Fungal Hall Access which leads to Fungal Hall A.  Use the grapple beam on a glider here to get to the next door.  In the Phazon Mining Tunnel you will need to boost to get across the vanishing platforms.  That Phazon HURTS!!!  In Fungal Hall B there is another glider for grappling.  The door to the left leads to a missle station and the one to the right leads to Quarantine Access B, which takes you to Metroid Quarantine B.  Use the Spiderball and grapple beam to get to the other side, while fighting enemies...  Two doors are on this side.  One leads to a save station.  You may want to save before you fight the upcoming boss.  The other leads to Elite Quarters Access.  In Elite Quarters Access, Melt the ice coverng the red gate near the gate.  Now you can enter the Elite Quarters.  Here we go... It's time to fight the Omega Pirate.  This is one tough MOFO so I hope you saved.
~Omega Pirate!:  This is hard.  If you don't beat it the first time, don't freak out.  Nobody does.  Stay far away enough so that he doesn't slash you with his claws.  If he shoots missiles at you, dodge to the left or right.  If he uses his Wave Quake move, jump over it.  In the first part you can target four places.  Each leg and each arm.  You can only hit these places while he is doing his wave quake attack, or right after.  He will absorb it if you shoot him while his hand is out in front of him.  After they are gone he falls to the ground and turns COMPLETELY invisible.  You can't even see him with the X-Ray visor.  More pirates come after you.  Kill them FAST.  Soon you will hear the omega pirate roar and he will be visible with the X-Ray visor.  Shoot him with one or two charges of the Plasma Beam, or maybe Super Missiles.  Either way, he will usually teleport somewhere else, and you have to shoot him again.  Sometimes he just turns completely visible and you have to blow up his arms and legs again.  Some people say it is easier to simply avoid the smaller pirates until the omega appears, so that you won't miss your chance.  Shooting him while he is invisible is the only way you can hurt him, really.  After he is dead, he just stands there... WTF?  He sluggishly takes a couple steps, and then falls over right on top of Samus.  After some dramatic seen where some idiot would think she is dead, she pops out of the Phazon with a shiny new suit.  Also there is a gun that comes with it, but can only be used on the last boss.

Artifact of Newborn: Go back to the Phazon Mining Tunnel.  There is a part where you can bomb blocks that are in your way to get to the artifact.  You will have to roll across Phazon but you have the Phazon Suit.  Hooray!!!

Back to the Surface!: In the Elite Quarters, ride the elevator, and go out the other door.  In the next room there is an energy tank right in your face.  In the next room after that, the Phazon Processing Center, make your way to the top using visible and invisible platforms, as well as some spiderball tracks.  It leads to an elevator to Magmoor Caverns.  Okay, so it isn't the surface, but it's closer.  In the Workstation Tunnel, power bomb the rubble to clear it.  You should end up back in Magmoor Workstation.  From here you can find your way back to Tallon Overworld.

The Artifacts: You should have all the artifacts by now.  If not, go back up and look for the ones you don't have.  I have put them in this color so they are easy to see.  When you are ready, go to the Artifact Temple (and if you don't know where that is, go up and look for "Artifact of Truth" and it tells you where it is).

Meta Ridley: When you bring all twelve artifacts to the Artifact Temple, Ridley has to come down and screw everything up.  Ooh, he's a robot now.  He blows up the central pillar (doh!) and then he comes after you (DOH!!!) so get ready for a good fight.  If you didn't at the ship just now, I feel sorry for you.  He will start to fly around and shoot bombs at you, so just dodge them.  When he comes up right in front of the artifact temple and hovers there, SHOOT HIM!!!  Dodging his attacks isn't a problem unless he comes down and lands on you.  Ouch.  Even then just back up and blast him.  Eventually after sufficient abuse and brutal punishment, Ridley will drop down to fight you on the ground.  He will charge at you, so dodge to the left or to the right, and then turn around to lock on so you can dodge again if he comes at you.  When he opens his mouth to roar or breath fire, BLAST HIM!!!  Sometimes when you shoot him in the mouth he will start screaming and expose his chest which is also vulnerable at that point.  Blast him whenever you have a chance.  As long as you dodge his attacks, he isn't that hard.  Nobody beats him the first time though.  After he is dead, the Chozo spirits will shoot him off the cliff and BANG!!!  He explodes like any robot that just got whacked.  [ Wait, supposedly, this takes place before Metroid 2 and 3... and Ridley is in those.  I can understand being rebuilt as a robot but he blew up this time.  WTF? anyway... ]  A portal to the Impact Crater opens.  There is a save point down there but if I were you I would go back to the ship to refill on Ammo too.

Impact Crater: When you head down to the impact crater, there is a save point waiting for you at the bottom.  In the next room there are some funky lizards.  Harmless... as long as you DON'T TOUCH THEM!!!  Oh yeah, and even with your Phazon Suit, the stuff down here still hurts you.  Hmmm...?  Well, after the lizard room you will walk into a BIG room with some Fission Metroids, which will split up when you hit them.  Even worse, the split-up-metroids are only vulnerable to one of your weapons, which is random.  The solution, POWER BOMBS!!!  Power bombs will kill any metroid.  Just make sure they are in range.  Make your way up the platforms.  There are no invisible ones, so it's not that hard to find your way.  On the way up there is a missile station, and door at the very top leads to Metroid Prime's Lair... (Oh sh**!!! Lock & load Mother F****rs!)

Metroid Prime - Part 1: I guess this is what the Chozo call the Worm.  Looks more like a spider to me. Metroid Prime can only be hurt by a certain weapon at a time, kinda like the Fission Metroids or the Troopers.  However, this guy changes.  First you can only hit him with the power beam, then the wave beam.  After that he will burrow into the ground to the next level of the crater.  You jump down after him.  He will go in patterns for a while and then eventually starts changing random.  When in the second level and below, whenever you kill him as one color, he will charge at you before changing to another.  Roll into a ball and go into one of the side ditches and roll past him.  After doing this a few times he will go to the next level again.  When he shoots a beam of Ice or electricity, be extra careful,  The Ice freezes you and the electricity throws your aim off.  When he shoots two little balls at you, make sure your gun is set to that color and blast them.  On normal mode, a single charge usually works.  Here are the weapons you should use for the first part.  Never use any weapon's normal mode.  At least use the charge beam for that weapon.  When he is yellow, use Super Missiles.  When he is Purple, use simple wave beam charges, or use the wavebuster.  When he is White, use the Ice Spreader.  When he is red, use simple plasma beam charges.  The flamethrower is too slow.  Eventually he will crash through a wall and... thud.

Metroid Prime - Part 2: Well, if you thought you won, you sure didn't.  This is why you needed that phazon suit.  It comes with a gun that can only be used here.  You can't do anything to him yet.  So, just jump over his wave quake things.  And, um, don't touch him.  When he makes a puddle of Phazon and turns invisible, switch to your X-Ray visor.  Sidestep over to the puddle of Phazon and your gun changes.  It turns into the Phazon gun.  Just step in the Phazon, point at Metroid Prime, and HOLD THE FIRE BUTTON.  It will shoot rapid fire at him until the phazon is gone.  you'll have to wait for him to do it again.  Keep watching him with the X-Ray visor until he disappears again... wait, what?  Okay, don't freak out.  This time switch to the Thermal Visor.  Do the same thing over again.  If he ever spawns metroids to help in the fight, just drop a Super Bomb to take them both out.  Hopefully they're close enough.  After the thermal visor, switch back to the combat visor.  He will keep going in this pattern.  If you know what to do, which you now should, it's easy.  After enough hits with the Phazon Rifle, he goes down.  Watch the ending movie.

Assuming you win the fight...
Put down the controller, crack your knuckles, sit back, and watch the ending cinematics.  Roll credits.  Congratulations.  You have beated one of the greatest GameCube titles yet.
