What
is Mototrials or Observed Motorcycle Trials?
It
is a motorcycle sport that emphasizes precise balance and control.
The
goal is to ride over a designated area of terrain without stopping or using
your feet to regain or retain balance.
It
is not a race... it is not about speed... in Mototrials, precision is critical.

Why
do it?
It
is a battle between rider and terrain. It is a solo battle.
He
who makes the fewest mistakes wins.
A
rider can practice at home... even on level ground... perfecting skills such as
balance, turning, clutch and throttle control.
Obstacles
can even be set up in one's back yard to practice on.
What
happens at events?
Only
one rider is "observed" at a time.
Every
time the rider stops forward motion or touches the ground with their foot, the
observer (judge) scores a point against them.
0
is the best score, 5 is the worst score.
Small
changes in the amount of room prior to a obstacle or in the riding angle across
a slope can have a major effect on turning room or traction.
What
makes Mototrials so enjoyable?
You
are challenged both mentally and physically.
You
can always improve... the more you practice, the better you become!
You
get to appreciate a wide range of naturally beautiful terrain.
You get to make a lot of friends... the Trials community is very friendly and they are always willing to help you.
It
is a great family sport, where all ability levels (Youth to Expert) participate
on the same riding areas.
