Later on, Kathryn is chopping vegetables for dinner when a demon impersonating Emily’s voice comes in. Kathryn doesn’t see that it’s a demon.
Demon: Kathryn! Help! Demon!
Kathryn turns around. Her attention is diverted, and the knife slips in her hand. She cuts off half her left hand ring finger. The demon shimmers away as she throws a fireball at it with her other hand. Suddenly, she remembers her hand and looks down to see half a finger missing.
Kathryn: *in agony* LAUREN!!!! HEEEEEEAL!
Lauren: What?!
Kathryn holds up her left hand so Lauren can see the half-finger. She heals it, but instead of turning into a normal finger again, skin just grows over the end of it. The finger isn’t cut anymore, but Kathryn still has only half a finger.
Kathryn: W-what happened? Why didn’t it heal right?
Lauren: I don’t know, but it’s all I can do.
The others heard Kathryn yelling. They run down the stairs, but all they see is Lauren and Kathryn talking.
Kelly: What’s wrong?
Kathryn: T-t-t-THIS!!!
She holds up her left hand. The others just sit there in shock.
Julia: How did that happen?
Kathryn: A demon. It copied Emily’s voice, called for me. I turned around fast, forgot about the knife, looked down, half my finger gone. Lauren can’t heal it any more than this.
Karoline: At least it wasn’t really that important…
Kathryn: THAT’S NOT THE POINT! Oh well, I guess you’re right. I’ll just have to deal with it. Good thing it wasn’t a more commonly used finger. Someday I will have revenge on the demon, but for now, I’ll just go to bed.

The next evening, Kathryn had a date. After the date, she invited her boyfriend, Ethan, into the house. She went to get him a drink. Ethan sees a piece of paper on the coffee table.
Ethan: Hmmm…What’s mine is yours, what’s yours is mine, let our powers cross the line, I offer up my gift to share, switch our powers through the air…Nice poem…
He puts the paper back on the coffee table just as Kathryn returns. Just then, Lindsay and Emily come down the stairs. They look worried about something.
Kathryn: Uh, this isn’t really a good time, but we can talk tomorrow, ok?
Ethan: Sure, ok. Bye then…
After Ethan leaves, Kathryn can devote her full energy to getting mad at Lindsay and Emily.
Lindsay: WHAT IS GOING ON?!
Kathryn: What do you mean?
Emily: We were just sitting in our room when Lindsay hit me with a fear ball. I saw everything spinning, and when I looked at the clock, it was 5 minutes ago!
Kathryn: So?…wait, you can’t go back in time…!
Lindsay: Exactly…I can. Are your powers working?
Kathryn: *Tries to set something on fire* Apparently not.
Just then, a thought struck Kathryn: Hmm, I think we’ll have fish for dinner tomorrow. I can just disguise it to look like chicken and Karoline will never know!
Unbeknownst to her, the water in the swimming pool turned into dead fish.
Kathryn: Let’s have a family meeting on the balcony.
Kathryn tries to orb there, but instead she disappears in green lights and reappears there.
Kathryn: So, are your powers screwed up too?
Lindsay: Well, Emily and I switched.
Larissa: Hmm, I wonder…
Larissa shrugs her shoulders in confusion, one hand pointing to the ground. The balcony where Lindsay and Emily are standing explodes, and Lindsay and Emily fall down into the swimming pool, which they find is filled with dead fish.
Lindsay: WHO PUT THE DEAD FISH IN THE POOL?!?!
Kathryn: I have no idea.
Vicki suddenly senses “TRUTH!” from Kathryn.
Vicki: I think I have Amanda’s powers, which means she must have mine. Larissa and Karoline switched, which means…
Kelly: Julia and I must have switched too!
Just then Lauren orbed down.
Lauren: What’s going on with your powers?
Julia: You mean yours aren’t messed up?
Lauren: No.
Kelly: Whose powers does Kathryn have? Are yours switched with someone?
Kathryn: I don’t know, but I can’t burn or freeze. Watch this orb though.
Kathryn orbs, but instead of blue lights she disappears in green lights.
Lauren: Oh, I know what that is! When witches can orb but they don’t inherit it from a whitelighter parent, the orbs are other colors.
Karoline: What other powers do you have?
Kathryn: I don’t know.
Kathryn takes a rock on the ground and throws it in the air, and tries to freeze or move it. Just then, Kit the cat walks in.
Kathryn: Hi Kit!
Slowly, the rock in her hand turns into a cat. Kathryn sees the cat and drops it in surprise.
Lauren: That power’s called transmogrification. You can turn things into other things.
Kathryn looks at Karoline and thinks “Dog!” Karoline starts shrinking and growing fur. Soon she is a dog.
Karoline: Woof! Woof!
Lauren: Change her back!!
Kathryn: How?
Lauren: Just think of Karoline!
Kathryn thinks of Karoline, but she is still looking at Lauren. Lauren turns into Karoline.
Lauroline: Hey! Change me back!
This time, Kathryn looks at Lauren Karoline and turns her back into Lauren. She looks at Dog Karoline and changes her back into a person.
Karoline: Hey! What was that for?
Kathryn: Sorry, I didn’t mean to. I’ve never heard of this power before, so I don’t know how it works.
Amanda: Maybe that’s how the fish got in the swimming pool. What were you thinking before?
Kathryn: Well, I was thinking that we should have fish for dinner, and…
Lindsay: No wonder…I DON’T WANT FISH FOR DINNER!
Larissa: That’s not the point! We’re supposed to be worrying about our powers remember?
Lauren: The only way powers have been switched before is with the power-switching spell. Maybe if you say it, your powers will go back to normal.
Kelly: It’s worth a try, but that still doesn’t explain who has Kathryn’s powers.
Everyone says the power-switching spell, and (surprise, surprise) it doesn’t work.
Just then, a demon appears. Everyone tries to use their normal powers, and they remember that they don’t have their normal powers. Nobody knows what each other’s triggers could be.
Lauren: Kathryn! Turn him into something more easily destroyed!
The demon turns into Mario.
Everyone: What???
Kathryn: Well, Mario is the easiest character to kill in Super Smash Bros. Melee!
Mario turns into a cardboard box.
Larissa: Karoline, what’s your trigger?
Karoline: Confusion.
Larissa: Huh?
Her hand points at the cardboard box, which explodes.
Lauren: Well, your trigger is a feeling you have a lot. Karoline must have just been confused a lot before everyone got their powers.
Kelly: Ha! Confusion is a trigger? Who would have thought…
Lauren: Okay, now, how are you going to change your powers back?
Julia: Well…if the switching spell didn’t work…we might be…stuck this way…
Kathryn: No! I’m not keeping these weird powers forever.
Kelly: Well, did any of you cast that spell before.
Everyone: No, we had no reason to.
Julia: Well, was anyone else in the house?
Kathryn: Well, Ethan was here for a while, but he’s not magic…
Kelly: Or…maybe he is.
Kathryn: Oh my god. Someone must have left that paper with the spell on it sitting on the coffee table. He probably read it thinking it was a poem or something, and…These must be his powers.
Lauren: Well, he must not know he’s a witch, or he would have read the spell before saying it aloud. I mean, it said “SPELL” at the top…
Kathryn: How do you know he’s not…evil?
Lauren: Evil can’t orb.
Kelly: Well, I guess we have to get him to reverse the spell.
Kathryn: I’ll just orb over there, exposure isn’t a problem.
Kathryn orbs over to Ethan’s house and tells him about magic and witches and warlocks. Then she shows him how to reverse the spell. She orbs home to where everyone has their normal powers back.
Karoline: Good. I like my powers. I hope we never accidentally switch powers again.
Kathryn: Yeah. Transmogrification is a little too nonviolent for my tastes.
Lauren: Yeah…
Emily: Yeah, well let’s…go to bed now, and worry about demons tomorrow.
Amanda: Good idea…
Everyone goes off to bed.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
The next day, Kathryn is in the kitchen making breakfast. She is using the same knife that cut her finger off. The same demon comes into the kitchen, this time impersonating Lindsay’s voice.
Demon: Kathryn! Help!
Kathryn: No, you’re a demon.
Demon: HELP!!!
Kathryn: How do I know you’re not a demon?
Demon: Uh…Save me!
Kathryn turns around but instead of dropping the knife on her finger, she throws it in the direction of Lindsay’s voice. The knife sticks the demon in the throat. Unfortunately, the demon had stored all of its life force in one of its fingers, and it would not die unless that finger was cut off. Kathryn and the others didn’t know that.
Kathryn: Hurry up, get down here, demon!
Everyone runs down the stairs and sees the demon on the floor with a knife in its throat. The demon pulls the knife out.
Demon: Hahaha! You can’t kill me unless you cut off the right finger!
Julia says a spell to keep the demon where he is standing, so he can’t shimmer away. Everyone goes upstairs to look in the Book of Shadows. Kathryn throws fireballs at the demon, even though they won’t kill him.
Kathryn: Just because you won’t die doesn’t mean you can’t be hurt by my fire!
Demon: *Burn* ARG! *burn* ARG! *burn* ARG!…
Julia: Unless you want to spend all eternity getting tortured by Kathryn, you’ll listen to me.
Demon: No. I’ll make you a deal though. *To Kathryn* You can do “Guess and Check.” I’ll let you cut off one of my fingers at a time, and if it’s not the right one, I get to kill one of your sisters. Deal?
All the sisters were saying no…
Kathryn: Yes, sure.
Others: Why did you accept his deal?!?!
Kathryn, whispered: Because, he only has 3 fingers left. All the others have been cut off in encounters like this.
Larissa: No they haven’t! He still has all his fingers!
Kathryn: No, they are an illusion.
Demon: Ok, time to choose! Which sister do you want to lose first?
Kathryn knew that Lauren was a whitelighter so she wouldn’t die again. The demon didn’t know.
Kathryn: Lauren.
The demon grabs Lauren and holds a knife to her throat. Kathryn takes her own knife out and cuts off one of his fingers. The demon is still alive.
Demon: Wrong!
Demon “kills” Lauren, who pretends to be dead instead of disappearing into blue lights. Everyone pretends to be sad. Instead of asking again, the demon just grabs Lindsay to be the next victim.
Demon: Okay, choose.
Kathryn takes a coin out of her pocket.
Emily: What are you doing?
Kathryn: Flipping a coin.
Karoline: WHAT?! Lindsay’s life is at stake here.
Kathryn: Exactly. All the more reason to make a quick decision. I have a 50-50 chance anyway, why not let the coin decide for me?
Kathryn flips the coin, which lands on heads, so Kathryn cuts off the one remaining finger on the demon’s left hand….
The knife fell out of his hand and clattered on the floor. Lindsay ran away just as the demon collapsed and erupted into flames.
Kathryn: See? Flipping a coin worked.
Lindsay: *sarcastically* Glad to see my life means so much to you…
Kathryn: Not a good decision maker…
Larissa: Let’s just go to work, we can’t afford to lose our jobs.
Kelly: Well, considering our current financial circumstances, we actually can afford to lose our jobs…
Emily: Sure, but it would be weird if we all just quit, the bosses might think something was up. Besides, what are we supposed to do all day?
Julia: I think it would be good to be at home, what if a demon comes?
Karoline: Kathryn and I will be at home during the day, college is over remember?
Amanda: Oh, okay.
Kathryn: Yeah, you guys just go…have fun at work…
Kelly: Fun, heh heh, good one…
Everyone went off to work.
Kathryn: This is so boring, I think I’ll read the Book of Shadows for fun!
Karoline: Great idea!
Kathryn and Karoline start reading the Book. Soon, the entire day has gone by (time flies when you’re having fun?). That evening, everyone is sitting in the living room, waiting for Kathryn to get home from karate so she can make dinner for them.
Vicki: Soo…Hungry!
Just then, another demon shimmers in. Everyone dives behind a couch, chair, or other furniture, expecting some kind of attack. Instead, the demon just stands there, as if waiting for something.
Karoline: Oh, that demon’s not going to attack yet.
Amanda: What? How do you know?
Karoline: He can’t attack all of us. Only one. He’s a scepter demon part of a coven, you can only vanquish these demons by “beating them at their own ‘game’”.
Emily: Great, so how do we vanquish this one?
Karoline: One of us has to fight him to the death, without weapons. Oh, the other thing about these demons is that you can’t use powers against them, and they can’t use them against you.
Kelly: How many are there? Do we have to fight all of them to the death?
Karoline: Nobody knows how many there are, and no, to kill others you have to do things more rooted in logic and intelligence.
Lindsay: Well, how about we let Kathryn fight it, she knows karate.
Karoline: That’s a good idea.
Kathryn walks in the door.
Kathryn: Who’s that guy?
Vicki: A demon.
Kathryn: What are you doing?
Amanda: Waiting for you.
Kathryn: Why?
Julia: We need you to fight him.
Kelly: Without your powers.
Larissa: They don’t work on him.
Kathryn: How much should I hurt him?
Lindsay: Kill him.
Kathryn: Ok…
Kathryn approaches the demon, and the fight begins. Demon steps forward and punches, and in one motion Kathryn shifts to the side, blocks, grabs his wrist, and sweeps him. She punches him in the face. He jumps to his feet and elbows her in the stomach. The sparring continues for 5 minutes, twice the length of any tournament match. Then the demon grabbed Kathryn around the neck, so she ran up the wall and landed behind him. She front thrust kicks him between the shoulder blades, and he falls on the floor. Kathryn pulls the demon up. She smashes the demon’s face down onto her rising knee.
Lindsay: *winces* Oooh, that’s gotta hurt.
Kathryn drags the demon up again. She elbow strikes his face, then does a hook punch to his stomach followed by rising punch to his jaw. The demon collapses dead.
Kathryn: Ok, who was he, besides a mediocre sparring opponent?
Lindsay: We’ll explain at dinner. How about you take off your blood-stained gi and make dinner for us!
Kathryn: Okay…
Kathryn comes down 15 minutes later.
Kathryn: What do you want for dinner?
Amanda: Anything! Just cook!
Kathryn: *knowing Karoline doesn’t like hot dogs* How about hot dogs!
Karoline: No, ewww…!
Kathryn: Okay, we’ll just have pasta.
Karoline: The chef has spoken.
Karoline takes a ladle and pretends to extinguish an imaginary flame on the turkey baster.
Kathryn: Great Survivor impersonation, now come help with dinner.
Karoline: Why me?
Lindsay: Because I “helped with dinner” last night.
Emily: Yeah, have fun.
Karoline: Oh no.
Kathryn: Come on, time’s “a wastin’”.
Everyone except Kathryn and Karoline leaves the kitchen.
Karoline: So, what does helping with dinner entail? Cooking?
Kathryn: Nah, I need you to keep a lookout for the chameleon demon in here.
Karoline: What chameleon demon?
Kathryn: THE ONE IN HERE!
Karoline: Oh.
Kathryn cooks for a few minutes.
Karoline: What’s that cake server doing on the counter, I thought you were making pasta?
The cake server turns into a demon.
Karoline: Eeee!
Lindsay and Emily come running. Emily stops in the door frame, Lindsay just pokes her head around it to see into the kitchen. Karoline blows up the demon, and slime flies everywhere.
Karoline: YAY! YAY! YAY! I killed the demon! And I didn't miss and break something! Or blow myself up! Or trip and fall down! Or get hit by the demon first! Or...
Julia: ALRIGHT ALREADY!
Lindsay: Yeah, you just got slime all over everything…
Emily: Including us…
Karoline: Okay, okay.
Vicki: What was that demon anyways?
Kathryn: It's a chameleon demon.
Amanda: And...
Kathryn: Ummm... it was a cake.
Lindsay: Whatever. LAUREN!!!
Lauren: *orbs down* What?
Emily: A demon attacked. Kathryn called it a chameleon demon. Do you know anything?
Lauren: Yeah, it a lower-level demon that works for the Scepter Demon King. (SDK) He'll probably come and take eight scepter demons with him. One demon per witch. Scepter demon's only power is that you can't use powers on it. So you have to kill it without using your powers.
Kathryn: Why would the king come?
Lauren: He lost one of his minions, the one you killed remember? So he has to come so there will be nine demons to fight you.
Karoline: Great, I was just getting the hang of this blowing things up thing...
Larissa: So what do we use to kill it?
Lauren: Play your strengths. Do what you can. Oh, they're calling. *orbs "up there"*
Kathryn: I know what I can do to the demon! Sparring practice! Nah, I’ll use a lightsaber!
Emily: *looks at Larissa and Lindsay* Substitute pitching machine!
Larissa: Ohhhhh....
Kelly: Hmm... I think I'll stick to the old fashioned stab-his-guts-out.
Vicki: Yeah, me too.
Amanda: I'll go with the sparring, too.
Julia: What do I do?
Karoline: I can lend you one of my fire batons! Or you can sing "Flutes at the Ballet." That always works to get rid of Kathryn...
Lindsay, Emily, Larissa, and Karoline: *Hum "Flutes at the Ballet" and Kathryn runs out of the room screaming in agony*
Julia: Ohh! Fire baton sounds good!
Karoline: Okay Julia.
Vicki: Do we have any idea when the demon's will be here?
Lindsay: No.
Vicki: Oh. Great... LAUREN!
Lauren: *orbs in* The demons are having a conference, so they'll be here in about an hour.
Amanda: Um... okay. How did you know that's what Vicki was going to ask?
Lauren: I know you guys too well. That's always the question.
Amanda: Oh. Okay.
Kathryn: Anyone who's using a weapon, go get it.
Kelly: (sarcastically) Yes sir.
Karoline: Let's go to the baton supply closet Julia!
Julia: I can't believe we have a closet for batons...
Karoline: Okay, here's a fire baton. Dip it in the gasoline and light it when the scepter demons come. Oh, and if you get demon guts on, break, or even dent my precious baton, I'll blow you up.
Julia: I won't hurt your baton! *heads back to the living room*
Everyone else had there weapons so now all they had to do was wait for the scepters.
--30 minutes later--
Kelly: This is getting boring.
Kathryn: Yeah, won't they hurry up?
Lindsay: If they're not here in 10 minutes we summon them.
Amanda: Good idea.
Vicki: I don't think we'll have to wait that long...
Karoline: AHHH! *Karoline and Julia light fire batons*
Lindsay: Okay, everyone take a demon!
Kathryn: I call the King!
The scepter demon Vicki was fighting was heaving large objects at her. Toaster, Paperweight, lamp, and then Julia. Fortunately, Vicki ducked and Julia flew right into the wall. Vicki managed to stab the demon before the scepter threw her into the clock. Vicki's demon died and vanished. Meanwhile, Amanda was fighting her demon. She kicks it through the window and it died and disappeared.
Lindsay, Emily, and Larissa had decided to team up on one scepter demon at a time. They killed two of them pretty easily, but the third one grabs Emily's bat and hits them. Kelly was stabbing her demon's guts out, but then turned and stabbed the one that had been attacking Julia earlier and had just stabbed Amanda. Both of those demons disappeared.
Karoline: (to self) Reverse... reverse hand... and wham! *hits the demon in the eye and it dies* Yay! It died!
Emily's scepter demon: Watch your back! *stabs Karoline in the back*
Kathryn: *stabs the scepter easily and it vanishes* That was easy!
Lauren: *orbs in* Whoa, what happened here?
Scepter Demon King: Hello Whitelighter. *stabs Lauren with a darklighter arrow*
Kathryn: Uh oh.
Kathryn tries to stab the SDK, but he blocks it and manages to stab Kathryn in the arm. Then Kathryn stabs the demon king and it dies and blows up.
Kathryn: Oww... LAUREN!!! Oh, that's right. You're right there. *doorbell rings* I'd better not answer that...
Mysterious voice: Hello? I'm here to help with your demon problem!
Kathryn: Okay, who are you?
Voice: My name's Thalia. I came to help you. And heal you.
Kathryn: How do you know about the demons and that we needed to be healed?
Thalia: Duh! The newsletter! *holds up a newsletter about them*
Karoline: "Karoline finally manages to blow up a demon without disaster." That's creepy.
Julia: "Julia gets thrown into a wall." How flattering.
Lauren: "Lauren (whitelighter) is hit with darklighter arrow. Charges left hurt." The entire magical world has to know that?
Everyone: Yes.
Thalia: Shame on you Lauren. I expected better.
Lauren: Do I know you…? Oh…we went to whitelighter training together! You…
Thalia: Yes, and you got perfect grades in everything, and you were always bragging about it to me.
Lauren: Loser.
Thalia: Elder’s pet.
Kathryn: Ahem…I hate to interrupt this “happy reunion”, but, uh, bleeding to death here!
Thalia: Oh!
Thalia heals Lauren and both whitelighters go around healing the charges. Kathryn picks up the newsletter.
Kathryn: You should read this Karo, it says really great stuff about you…
They both look at the paper, Kathryn smiling with glee and Karoline looking down in horror:

Karoline Finally Manages To Blow Up a Demon Without Disaster

Today, Charmed One Karoline managed to blow up a demon without any disaster or chaos. This is clearly a very rare occurrence. Says fellow Charmed One Kathryn: “My sister can never blow up demons. When she tries to blow stuff up, at best, chaos ensues. At worst…it’s not pretty. Sometimes, she destroys the clock, coffee table, or stained glass windows instead. Other times, she blows up our whitelighter, Lauren. Once, she blew up me, but it didn’t work (thank god the fire element protects me from that power). It just figures that when it finally works, it makes a huge mess anyway…Sometimes, I almost feel sorry for her, key word being ‘almost’.”
The demon Karoline destroyed was a basic lower-level chameleon demon, which may have been one reason her power worked. As many witches know, chameleon demons are among the easiest to destroy. Will this prove to be the beginning of a success streak for Karoline, or is it just dumb luck? Keep reading the newsletter to find out!

Karoline: Gee Kathryn, thanks for helping to improve my reputation with your kind and supportive words!
Kathryn: What, I couldn’t resist!
Thalia: Actually, I write the newsletter and send it to everyone in the magic community. Kathryn, because you have such talent and great vivid descriptions of what goes on here at the manor, would you mind commenting for another article of mine?
Julia: NO! Don’t let—
Kathryn: Sure, I’d love to. *smiles very evilly*
Thalia: Great! This one will be about life at the manor. Come with me, we wouldn’t want your sisters hearing or trying to influence your comments!
Thalia walks out of the room and Kathryn follows her.
Thalia: Is there anywhere in the house we can go so your sisters can’t hear us?
Kathryn: Sure, come up to the loft, it’s also my room that I share with Karoline.
Kathryn and Thalia walk up to the room. As soon as they get there, Thalia closes and locks the door. She picks up one of Kathryn’s cattle prods (Kathryn collects them) and hits Kathryn over the head, knocking her unconscious. She starts chanting.
Thalia: Ceylus phylum korthus, Ceylus phylum korthus…
She was speaking a secret demonic language used only in spells. The spell translated into English meant “Plant the seeds of evil, remove the good within…”
A few minutes later, Thalia was apparently done. She healed Kathryn and interviewed her about the house, and, more interestingly, her sisters.
Kathryn: Well, Julia and Karoline are the neat freaks, Amanda and I are the total slobs, and everyone else is somewhere in between.
The interview continued for a few more minutes, then they were done and Kathryn went downstairs. Thalia orbed away. Kathryn had no memory of being knocked out.
Karoline: You’d better not have said more bad things about me!
Lindsay: Yeah, leave her rep alone!
Kathryn: So what if I have? Watcha gonna do?
Karoline: I shouldn’t have to DO anything, you should listen to me when I tell you to stop.
Kathryn: That’s right, run away like a good witch.
Kathryn’s eyes glow red.
Vicki: Oh my god…Blow her up!
Karoline tries to blow Kathryn up, then remembers that it doesn’t work on her.
Amanda: What do we do?
Everyone stands there trying to think of what to do. Kathryn collapses on the floor. Her eyes stop glowing.
Kathryn: It’s…not…safe…demon…
Larissa: What happened?
Kathryn: I…don’t…know…part…demon…evil…Somehow I have a demon half or quarter or something now. I have control over it at the moment. That Thalia woman…what do we know about her?
Lauren: She’s a whitelighter, she can’t be evil.
Kelly: Or so we thought. She’s the only outsider that’s been in the house today, besides the demons.
Lauren: Woohoo! My whitelighter school enemy is evil, and we can kill her now!
But nobody was listening to Lauren, as they were all focused on Kathryn, who had risen and was walking menacingly toward Kelly. Before anyone knew what was happening, Kathryn had grabbed Kelly and shimmorbed away.
Kathryn: Hahaha, want to hear my evil plan?! All our sisters will come after you, they’re *loathingly* good witches! Then, once they all walk into my trap, I will kill them and take their powers, and then, I will RULE the UNDERWORLD!!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Kelly wondered if it was possible for Kathryn to kill all eight of her sisters in a fight, but then she decided that nobody would die, that everything would be okay, eventually.

Larissa: What do you guys want to do after a long day of demon fighting?
Lindsay: I don't know. What do you want to do?
Emily: I dunno, what do you want to do?
Karoline: I dunno, whadda you wanna do?
Vicki, Amanda, Julia, Kathryn, Lauren, and Kelly: DON'T EVEN START YOU
FOUR!
Lauren: I have to go, the elders are calling.
Lauren orbs away to the elders.
Lauren: I know what you can do today: deal with the latest demon problem!
Karoline: *sarcastically* Great, sounds like fun…
Kathryn: *seriously* Great, sounds like fun!!!
Kelly: What is it this time Lauren?
Lauren: Well, there’s this amulet that shields good witches and makes the holder invincible, but it will only work if someone uses the activation spell in the next two days. The demons are trying to prevent good from getting the amulet in that time.
Lindsay: So we just have to find the amulet and enchant it, right?
Lauren: It’s not that simple. The demons put it in a magic-proof safe. They gave the safe to a mortal to guard. They said that it has gold inside it and that he will get a share if he guards it for two days. The amulet is hidden under gold inside the safe.
Emily: How do we get it?
Kathryn raises an eyebrow at Kelly.
Kelly: Do you think we could? All we have is amateurs.
Kathryn: I think because we know how to do everything, we could teach—
Larissa: Ok, what are you two talking about?!
Kathryn: Well, before we were all living together, Kelly and I were part of a crime gang. I was the getaway driver, she was the computer hacker, other people had other jobs.
Kelly: We didn’t have any money or a place to live until we joined them. We put our shares from the thefts together and we had a lot of money. When we came to live here, we hid the money away.
Julia: Hidden money? How much do you have hidden away?
Kelly: Oh, about 3.5 million or so…
Lindsay: WHAT? You HID 3.5 million dollars from us?! Why?
Karoline: They were probably afraid we wouldn’t like their “methods.”
Kelly: Yeah.
Vicki: So, what were you talking about before?
Kathryn: We were wondering if we could just steal the safe.
Kelly: Kathryn thinks it’s possible, even though we just have amateurs to work with. Lauren, what kind of person is guarding the safe? Where does he live?
Lauren: Oh, he’s rich. He lives in a nice house. It’s kind of cool actually; half of it is built right over the ocean.
Kathryn: Oooh, getaway…boat? *Remembers particularly fun heist, with getaway boat* Wait, I know! Getaway boat, then car! Hehehe…
Julia: No! We will not steal! Stealing is wrong!
Lauren: Actually, I think stealing might be the best way to do it.
Kathryn: YES!! Kelly, we must teach these do-gooders how to steal!
Kelly: Ok. Lauren, you can help me with the computer stuff. Kathryn, who do you want to ride with you?
Kathryn: Hmm, uh…Karoline.
Kelly: Before we can have a plan, we need to know what the house and the surrounding streets and terrain look like.
Kathryn: Karo and I can check out the streets and waters. We need an infiltrator. Lauren, is guard guy home during the day?
Lauren: No, he is at work all day.
Kathryn: Good. There will be security, but we already know all about that.
Kelly, whispered, to Kathryn: Send Lindsay in?
Kathryn: Yeah, sure.
Kathryn, out loud, to room: Lindsay, will you go in?
Lindsay: Uh, sure. I guess. But I don’t know how to avoid security and stuff…
Kelly: Don’t worry, I’ll show you. It’ll be fine. Kathryn, maybe you should get our crime stuff.
Kathryn: Sure. I still know the vault code…
Kathryn orbs away and comes back a few minutes later with several boxes.
Emily: What is all this stuff?
Kelly: Oh, our headsets, extra headsets, our power tools, our fake IDs, building blueprints, my special computer complete with PasswordHack upgrade…
Kathryn: Karoline, come with me…
Karoline takes Kathryn’s hand and Kathryn orbs them to the vault.
Kathryn: We have to take the cars to the house.
Karoline: Where did you get these? *Gapes at expensive nice cars*
Kathryn: We bought them with our stolen money!
Karoline: Which one should we use?
Kathryn: One? I need you to be a decoy in case the police show up…Don’t you ever wonder how fast the high-end expensive vehicles can go? Well, now you can find out!
Karoline: I don’t know if speed’s my thing. I’m afraid on roller coasters!
Kathryn: Here, take this one. It’s not like roller coasters, because you control it! Besides, we can always get rid of the traffic problem…
Karoline: O-Ok then.
Kathryn: Let’s go.
Karoline: See you at home!
Karoline and Kathryn drive home.
Vicki: Nice cars. I won’t ask where you got them…
Kelly: Hey! We bought those! Never mind that it was with stolen money…
Kathryn: Our boat from the Italy theft is still there, it should do the job.
Larissa: Italy?! Gosh, you sure get around. I never left San Francisco!
Kelly: Yeah, we’ll tell you about all our “vacations” sometime. Lindsay, you come with me for “breaking into houses 101.” Kathryn, go teach Amanda, Vicki, and Larissa about demolitions. Julia, you and Lindsay will do the plan, but you can’t start that until we have a visual, blueprint, something. Emily will help me with computer stuff.
Everyone goes off to follow their “orders.” Kathryn is just finishing showing Amanda, Vicki, and Larissa the joys of demolishing when Kelly comes back.
Kelly: Kathryn, go take Karoline and test your getaway cars. You need to block a couple of security cams. Also, walk Lindsay through the infiltration. You know what to do.
Lauren: Go now, he’ll be getting home from work soon.
Kathryn: Okay, let’s move. Lindsay, take this mike and get in my car, the nice new one not the ugly old one.
Lindsay nervously plays with a microphone. Kathryn and Lindsay get into one car and Karoline takes the other.
Kathryn: When I tell you to, push the green button on the dashboard. It pops one of the tires. Once you have a flat, you’ll have an excuse for parking in front of the security camera.
Karoline: Got it. But, how will we get home if we have flat tires?
Kathryn: There’s a spare in the trunk. Just make sure you change the tire slow enough for Lindsay to get out of the house.
Karoline: Okay. By the way, what do these other buttons do?
Kathryn: Well…I’ll tell you when we have more time. They are there for…emergency purposes.
Lindsay: Will this really be as easy as Kelly said it would?
Kathryn: Yeah, I’ve done it before. Besides, it isn’t exactly a maximum-security military stronghold.
Karoline: You’ve stolen from the military?
Kathryn: Just one explosive. We couldn’t get it any other way! We needed it for a heist.
Karoline: So that justifies stealing from THE MILITARY?!?!
Kathryn: Not really, but it was fun!
Lindsay: Fun, right, ok.
Kathryn: Push the green button!
Karoline pushes the green button, her tire pops, and she glides to a halt. Kathryn does the same.
Kelly, from house: Karoline, good, you’re in position. Ok Lindz, you’re up.
Lindsay: Okay.
Lindsay proceeds to break into the house, with Kathryn giving her instructions for every step.
Kathryn: …and you’re in.
Lindsay: Yes!
Lindsay records a “movie” of the entire interior of the house. She leaves and gets back into Kathryn’s car, which is now repaired, without a flat tire. Karoline and Kathryn drive home.
Kelly: Yes, good. Emily, I need you to go get the blueprints of the house from the contractor’s office. Feel free to use any method to get them, legal or not. If you need to bribe him, use this.
Kelly tosses Emily a bag filled with money.
Emily: Cool. Ok, I’ll be back soon.
Kelly imports Lindsay’s movie onto the computer.
Kelly: This is good, this is very good… Maybe you and Julia can start on that plan now. If not, we’ll have the blueprints soon.
Kathryn: And the sooner we have a plan, the sooner we get to steal again! I wonder how much gold is on top of that amulet…
Lauren: Kathryn, you’re not supposed to be stealing it for the gold!
Kathryn: No, of course not. The gold is just an…added benefit…
Kelly: Yeah! Exactly! Added benefit.
Just then, as Lauren was about to say something, Emily gets home.
Emily: Hi! I’m back! I got the blueprints!
Kelly: Good. Take them to Lindsay and Julia, they’re making The Plan.
Kathryn goes off to teach Larissa, Amanda, and Vicki more about demolitions. Half an hour later, Lindsay and Julia come down from the attic to show everyone their plan.
Julia: *Tells everyone about plan*
Kelly: That’ll probably work, most likely.
Kathryn: Yeah, but we don’t have much time. We have to start early tomorrow. We don’t have the explosives for that currently in our possession.
Lindsay: Well, how are you going to get them?
Kathryn: I’ll be right back.
Kathryn orbs away, and reappears 3 minutes later with a bunch of dangerous-looking explosives.
Kathryn: There, now we have the necessary stuff. Everyone can go to bed now, we don’t need to do anything else until tomorrow.
Everyone goes off to their rooms.
The next day, everyone is in the kitchen, looking at the plan again.
Kathryn: Ok Karoline, time to get our cars in position. You go put your car where it needs to be, then I’ll pick you up and we’ll orb to the boat.
Karoline: Got it. See you in a little while.
Kathryn and Karoline go to put their cars in position.
Kelly: Ok. We need all three of you for demolitions. We’re going to blow through the 4 floors of the house so the safe falls all the way down into the ocean. We’ll help Kathryn and Karoline fish it out, then it’s up to them to get it back to the house without getting caught.
Lindsay: You really think Kathryn can get it back here without the cops stopping her?
Kelly: Oh, the cops will definitely interfere. But Kathryn and I are very good at our jobs. It will be fine.
Larissa: How do we get out of the house once the safe is down?
Kelly: You jump through the holes in the floor. They will all be aligned, because the safe has to fall through them.
Lindsay: You want me to jump into the ocean from the fourth floor?!
Kathryn, on microphone: Yeah! It’s fun!
Emily: Maybe FOR YOU it is…Isn’t the ocean water cold?
Kelly: Hello! Wetsuits!
Lindsay: Ok, if you insist. Besides, I get the 3rd floor, not the 4th.
Amanda: I get first floor!
Vicki: I get second!
Emily: Hey! THAT’S NOT FAIR!!
Larissa: It’s okay Emily. I’ll come to the 4th floor with you, then we can both be afraid of heights together.
Emily: Oh. Okay then…
Kathryn & Karoline, on microphone: Ok, we’re in position. The house seems to be deserted, proceed with the operation.
Kathryn, to Karoline: Ooh, the water’s flat. That means MORE SPEED!!!
Karoline: Great. Just what I need…
Kathryn: No, speed is good. More speed means fewer police interventions. Plus, Kelly will personally ensure that the police are caught in traffic.
Karoline: How?
Kathryn: Easy. She controls the traffic lights. We will have a clear road, and they will be caught in traffic. We’ll still have to go fast to avoid them once they go off road.
Karoline: Got it, ok. Look, the others have arrived.
Amanda, Vicki, Larissa, Emily, and Lindsay go into the house with explosives.
Kelly, from headset: Ok, you paint the gray explody stuff 16 feet from the north wall and 4 feet 6 inches from the west wall.
Larissa & Emily: Done.
Amanda: Done.
Vicki: Done.
Lindsay: Done.
Kelly: Ok, now stand back. Amanda, detonate the explosives.
Amanda: 5…4...3...2…1...LEMONS!!
The floor explodes and disintegrates in the same place on all four floors, and the safe falls through all four holes and into the ocean. It makes a huge splash that hits Kathryn and Karoline in the boat.
Amanda jumps into the water through the hole in the floor. Vicki does the same. Lindsay jumps.
Lindsay: *screams* Eeeeee! *splash*
Larissa jumps, falls four floors, and lands in the water.
Kathryn: Emily, come on!! Hurry up!
Emily: I’m not going to! I can’t! I’ll get hurt or something!
Kathryn orbs up behind Emily and pushes her.
Emily: *screams* EEEEEEEEE!!!
Karoline: Kathryn!
Kathryn: What, it worked! *Jumps through hole* BANZAI!!!!
Everyone swims down deep underwater and tries to pull the safe up. Even underwater, it weighs too much to lift.
Kathryn: Emily, orb down with me, grab the safe, and orb into the boat.
Emily: Ok.
They orb down and put the safe in the boat. Kathryn moves to the boat’s controls.
Kathryn: Everyone, hold on to something! *She starts the engine and accelerates*
Kathryn guns the engine and the boat goes flying across the water at 80 mph.
Emily: Don’t you think you should slow down a little? We might go too far and have to turn around.
Kathryn: No, we need speed. I’m revising the plan a little.
She turns the boat and heads straight out to sea.
Lindsay: Kathryn, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!!!
Kathryn: Watch and learn.
She turns the boat in so they are facing the dock they are supposed to stop at. Kathryn guns the engine, and soon they are flying towards shore at 115 miles per hour. They reach the shore, which is slanted upward, still going 115.
Karoline: We’re going to craaaaaaaash!!!
Kathryn: I know!
The boat hits the shore and goes straight up the incline, which launches it up in the air. It flies over a low building and skids about 100 feet on the ground. The boat finally stops 10 feet away from the cars.
Larissa: *sarcastically* Nice driving…
Kathryn: Come on, we don’t have much time.
Kathryn and Emily orb the safe into Kathryn’s car. Emily, Lindsay, and Larissa get in Kathryn’s car, and Vicki and Amanda get in Karoline’s. Kathryn and Karoline go over the route with Kelly one more time, then they get going.
Kathryn: Hold on to something…
Lindsay: Why? We have seatbelts.
Kathryn: Seatbelts won’t be enough…
Emily: Uh oh…
Kelly, on headset microphone: Wait for it, wait…GO!!!
Kathryn and Karoline both gun their engines and take off as fast as possible.
Amanda: Gosh you guys, you’re not racing each other!
Karoline: No, we’re racing THEM *She points to the police cars following them*
Vicki: Oh…Great.
Karoline: FASTER!! MORE…SPEED!!!
Kathryn: YAAAAAAAA!!! Speed!!
Karoline and Kathryn have now both reached 121 mph.
Kathryn: There’s a turn coming up, either skid or wing it. I like skidding!
Karoline: Got it.
Both cars slide around the turn, Kathryn’s leading by a few feet. They are now going downhill. One of the pursuing police cars doesn’t have very good handling, and it skids into a wall while trying to turn. The police car is totaled. Kathryn and Karoline are still speeding up, they have now reached 130 mph.
Lindsay: Are you sure this is a safe speed? If we were to crash, we’d die of the impact instantly.
Kathryn: But, see, we’re not going to crash, so it’s fine.
Emily: *sarcastically* Great, that’s reassuring…
Kathryn: If you’re worried about crashing, stop complaining, shut up, and let me do my job. I HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE. WE ARE NOT GOING TO DIE! So Karoline, how are you doing?
Karoline: Good, but I’ve already used half the tank of gas.
Kathryn: Not to worry, we’ll probably lose them with the next move.
They veered off into the parking garage and slowed down to 80 mph. They still have to skid around turns and make that lovely “tires screeching” noise, but the police are too far behind to see where they went. They stop when they reach the roof. They turn until they are facing in the general direction of their house.
Karoline: You first.
Kathryn: Whatever, if you say so.
Lindsay: W-w-what are you doing? Where are we going from here?
Kathryn: There’s only one direction to go…
Kathryn drives towards the edge of the roof, accelerating as quickly as possible. She smashes straight through the concrete guard rail at 100 mph. The car goes flying through the air. It scrapes the corner of a building and bursts into flames. The car lands on the ground, but is still not destroyed.
Kathryn: EMILY! ORB LINDSAY AND LARISSA OUT OF HERE, COUNT TO THREE, THEN ORB BACK.
Emily orbs away, Kathryn freezes the flames in the car, and Emily orbs back. Lindsay restores the destroyed parts of the car.
Kathryn, into headset: Karoline, steer a little to the right when you jump. Don’t hit the building like I did.
Karoline takes a deep breath in and out, then hits the accelerator. Her car goes flying off the roof and lands on the ground near Kathryn’s. Her car is not nearly as destroyed as Kathryn’s was, but Lindsay restores it anyway. The cars continue driving through the city at breakneck speeds, until they reach a long open stretch of highway.
Karoline: Finally those annoying cops are gone. Now I can prove I’m better at racing than you!
Kathryn: I could beat you any time, any day, amateur!
Emily: Uh oh…
The cars both accelerate, speeding down the road as if it was the autobahn.
Karoline: Those signs that say “Speed Limit” are just for fun, right? They’re not serious or anything…
Kathryn: OF COURSE! NOBODY LISTENS TO A SIGN!
Karoline suddenly pulls ahead, so Kathryn does the logical thing (for a cheating daredevil with a criminal past). She bumps Karoline’s rear tire. Karoline goes spinning off the road.
Kathryn: HAHAHA!!!
Emily: Hey!
Emily reaches out and turns Kathryn’s steering wheel, and Kathryn goes flying off the road too.
Karoline: Thanks Emily!
Both cars try to accelerate as fast as possible and spin out of control. Kathryn orbs her car back onto the road.
Larissa: Why don’t you just orb home instead of having a suicide race?
Kathryn: I can’t orb that far with the car, it’s too heavy. But, if you want to stay out here in the desert…
Lindsay: No! Suicide is fine…
Karoline: I have an idea, we’ll play a different game!
Karoline drives up and rams Kathryn’s rear bumper.
Kathryn: Hey!
Kathryn turns around and crashes into Karoline’s car head on. Lindsay restores both cars. Kathryn drives into the drivers’ side of Karoline’s car. Lindsay restores it. The “game” continued until Lindsay suddenly collapsed from exhaustion. Everyone gets out of the cars.
Karoline: Lindsay! Wake up!
Kathryn: We have to get home to Lauren, she can heal her.
Karoline: Yeah. But we might have to drive *gasp* safely on the way home!
Kathryn: No! “Safely” isn’t fast enough to save her. You take Amanda, Vicki, Larissa, and Emily in your car. I’m going to get Lindsay home as soon as possible.
Karoline: Don’t kill yourselves.
Kathryn: Don’t worry. Besides, when have I ever killed myself?
Emily: Well, there was that one time, with the demon and—
Kathryn: Never mind, that’s not the point. I’m leaving!
Kathryn gets in her car and drives off, at 90 mph, as usual. Karoline follows at a slower, safer speed. Kathryn gets home, carries Lindsay inside, and drops her on the couch.
Kathryn: Lauren, heal!
Lauren heals her.
Lauren: How did this happen?
Lindsay: They were playing demolition derby with their cars, and I had to keep restoring them, and I just got too tired from using my powers so much…
Lauren: KATHRYN!!! LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PLAY DUMB GAMES AND FORCE OTHER PEOPLE TO USE THEIR POWERS FOR YOUR PERSONAL GAIN?!?!
Kathryn: LAUREN!!! *throws a fireball at Lauren, who disappears into orbs and reappears*
Lauren: HEY! JUST BECAUSE I AM ALREADY DEAD, YOU STILL DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO KILL ME WHENEVER YOU GET MAD!!!
Kathryn: Fine, so kill me. You won’t have the power of nine anymore…!
Lauren: Rrrrrrrrr!
Kathryn hadn’t thought about the personal gain issue. Technically, Lindsay had used her magic for Kathryn & Karoline’s personal gain, so…Lindsay gets the consequences?
Kelly: I’ll go and crack the safe. You need to be really quiet, or else I won’t be able to hear it.
Kelly starts cracking the safe. Karoline and the rest of the sisters get home a few minutes later.
Karoline: So, what did we miss?
Julia: Well, Lindsay is healed, Kathryn fireballed Lauren…
Karoline was about to say something to Kathryn, but Kathryn looked as if she would burn anyone if they said the wrong thing.
Kelly opened the safe to reveal about 1 million dollars in gold bars, and an amulet.
Lauren: Hurry, someone say the enchantment spell.
Julia: Ok. *Enchants amulet*
Vicki: So now it can protect us from evil?
Lauren: Yeah, I guess so. I think you should store it in Cloudville, it’s the only place demons can’t get to it. I’ll orb it there.
Amanda: Ok. Here. *hands Lauren the amulet*
Lauren orbs away.
Kathryn: Well, there’s nothing to do. I think I’ll make dinner. You can go and do something else, I’ll call you when dinner’s ready.
Kelly: Okay.

-Print below-
Just then Lauren orbed down.
Nobody knows what each others’ triggers could be.

Kathryn: Amanda’s an empath, so she’ll feel pain if I torture you, right?
Kelly: Unfortunately, yes. But wait…she doesn’t pick up physical pain. She can only sense mental.
Kathryn: Mental will do.
Meanwhile at the house, the seven people at home were panicking.
Vicki: What happened?!
Julia: I think Kathryn’s turned evil.
Emily: But with her power, she could do some serious damage to our house, not to mention us…
Julia: I think the greater danger is her knowledge. She knows everything about us, our elements, our powers, our weaknesses. I think someone should get the Book of Shadows and try to find out if there’s any way to get her back.
Karoline: I’ll go.
Karoline gets up, but she trips over her shoelace, which is untied, and falls on the floor.
Karoline: Ow!
Amanda: Ow! Wait…what was that???
Lauren orbs in
Lauren: The elders said Amanda’s power is growing. Is this true?
Julia pinches Vicki.
Vicki and Amanda: Ow!
Lauren: Apparently it is.
In the Underworld, Kathryn lights a circle of fire around Kelly. The circle is gradually getting smaller. Kelly knew that Kathryn needed to keep her alive, at least for the moment, so she wasn’t worried about death. Yet.
Amanda: HOT! Is it getting hotter in here?
Lauren: No, it’s your new enhanced empathy.
Karoline: It must be Kathryn. That pyromaniac, she’s probably lighting fires somewhere near Kelly. But why?
Julia: Of course…She’s trying to “kill two birds with one stone.” She knows that torturing Kelly would hurt Amanda too.
Karoline: Uh, I think you should see this page.
Larissa: What the…? Since when is there a spell to kill a mermaid in the Book of Shadows?!
Lindsay: I’ve never seen that before.
Julia: It’s in Latin! This is a demon spell!
Amanda: I-I think I know what’s going on. I think this has happened before.
Lindsay: When? The Book never turned evil before.
Amanda: No. It hasn’t happened to us.
Julia: You mean…?
Amanda: Yes. Mom was turned evil once. An evil priestess named Dantalion cast a spell and married Mom to a warlock. As a result, the Book turned evil, as did aunt Piper and aunt Phoebe.
Emily: Does that mean we’ll turn evil too?
Amanda: I don’t think so. Dantalion is dead, so this is the work of another demon.
Julia: Any clue as to who it is? Wait…Mom and her sisters never told us about their witchly activities. How do you know so much about this?
Amanda: It doesn’t matter how I know, does it?
Vicki: Actually, yes. I’d like to know.
Amanda: Well…Okay, fine. I’ve been summoning Mom’s spirit and talking to her.
Julia: Oh, and when did you plan to tell us about this?!
Amanda: Well…You never asked!!
Julia: That’s because I NEVER THOUGHT YOU’D DO SUCH A THING WITHOUT TELLING US!!!
Amanda: Well I should be able to do things without always CONSULTING WITH BIG SISTER JULIA FIRST!!!
Karoline: SHUT UP! WE NEED TO GET OUR SISTERS BACK!! IF WE LOSE THEM TO THE UNDERWORLD WE’LL ALL BE KILLED!!! Now put aside your petty differences and worry about the problem at hand!!!!
Julia looks very surprised at Karoline’s sudden outburst, but she recovers quickly.
Julia: Your right…Hey, is there anything about Thalia in the Book? Kathryn said she suspected Thalia.
Larissa: Yes, actually. Read this.
Thalia
Thalia is an evil priestess who poses as a whitelighter.
She can see into the houses of others with her crystal ball, which
She uses to get information for her newsletter.
This newsletter is used to keep evil informed on the actions of good witches.
She has also been known to betray her fellow demons.
She likes to gain powers by turning witches evil and killing them.

Karoline: I can tell you from personal experience that Thalia’s going to be in a world of hurt if she tries to go after Kathryn. And, Kelly is there too.
Lindsay: Yeah, they’d be formidable opponents for any demon.
Emily: I third that.
Larissa: I fourth that.
Amanda: I fifth that.
Vicki: I sixth that.
Julia: I seventh that.
Everyone laughs.
Julia: Now, back to the problem. How do we get someone who’s been magically turned evil good again?
Lindsay: Well, we could try calling for a lost witch.
Larissa: I don’t think that’ll work. The page with that spell has converted to evil. Apparently we can now summon a darklighter but not a lost witch.
Julia: Well, so much for that idea.
Emily: Don’t yell at me Julia, but I’ve been talking to our deceased family members too. Aunt Piper told me about a potion. See, it’s more complicated than any potion we’ve ever made, but if she drinks it, the demon in her will be vanquished.
Amanda: So, how will we get her to drink this potion without burning us, freezing us, or using any other powers she may have acquired?
Emily: Well, we just have to hope that there’s some humanity left in her.
Larissa: Are you willing to bet your life on that?
Emily: Aren’t you?
Karoline: She has a point. Without Kelly and Kathryn, the Power of Nine will be broken, and we can just sit and await our imminent doom.
Vicki: Okay. How will we find her?
Julia: Well I think it’s safe to say she’s in the Underworld.
Vicki: Yes, but where? We can’t scry for her down there.
Julia: Karoline can get a premonition and see where she is.
Karoline: I guess I can try. It seems like our only option anyway.
Karoline walks upstairs and starts touching Kathryn’s stuff. After half an hour, she still hasn’t gotten a premonition.
Karoline: Dammit, this dumb power never works when I want it to!
Lindsay: Calm down Karoline, I’m sure it’ll work soon. Maybe you should try again tomorrow.
Karoline: Okay…
Julia: I think our only option now is to wait for something to happen.
Just then, three chameleon demons appeared, tow in the living room and one in the basement. Julia TKs one into a sharp object on the wall and blew up. The second started throwing fireballs at Karoline, who blew it up. Larissa became invisible and impaled the third with one of Kathryn’s cattle prods.
Emily: The throw fire and make a huge mess when you kill them. *sarcastically* Three guesses as to who sent them.
Karoline: Kathryn. I saw her sigil on the back of one. I can’t help feeling that she wants us to know she sent them.
Vicki: Lovely, so now she can send demons to our house?
Karoline: Apparently.
Two weeks and 42 chameleons later, Lauren orbed down from Cloudville.
Lauren: Karoline, the elders say your power is growing!
Karoline: Which one?
Lauren: The premonition one.
Karoline: Darn…Well, what does that mean?
Lauren: You can get visions on command, like a seer.
Karoline: That’s interesting…you mean like this?
Karoline’s eyes turn white. For five minutes she seems to be watching something. Then she starts shouting at it. Lindsay rushes over and starts shaking Karoline.
Lindsay: Snap out of it!!!
Karoline: NOOOOOO!!! Wait…what happened?
Lindsay: What did you see?
Karoline: It was a future vision. A bad one. Kathryn took over the underworld, then she…destroyed us.
Emily: How far in the future? Can you tell?
Karoline: Soon.
Lauren: I need you to get another vision, of where Kathryn is now.
Karoline’s eyes turn white again. A few seconds later, she comes out of the vision on her own.
Karoline: I saw where she is. She’s keeping Kelly in a cell of some sort.
She projects the vision for the room.
Lauren: I’ve been there before. Get the potion, we need to hurry.
Emily: Got it.
Everyone holds hands and the orb to the underworld.
Kathryn: I was wondering when you’d get here…

Emily: Y-you mean…?
Kathryn: Oh yes. I’ve been waiting for you. You see, I know about your little potion. Granted, I didn’t exactly plan what to do when you got here, but I have an idea.
Kelly, from cell: *Sarcasm* An idea? Wow that’s a first!
Kathryn: Silence human!
Kathryn holds her hand next to Kelly’s head.
Kathryn: If you throw the potion, I will kill her.
Karoline starts panicking: *Whispered* Lauren, what do we do?!
Lauren, whispered: Stall for time. You need to get her away from the cell.
Lindsay: Well, can we make some compromise?
Kathryn: I’ve got a good idea: You attack and I kill you all.
Kelly: So confident you’ll win?
Kathryn: Shut up, slave! Now that they’re here, I don’t need you any more.
Kelly: When did I drop from ‘prisoner’ to ‘slave’?
Kathryn: Who cares?
Amanda: Okay, so besides our lives, what is it you want?
Kathryn: To rule the underworld, what else?
Vicki: Well, is there any chance we’ll get out of here alive?
Kathryn: Destroy your potion and I’ll give you Kelly. I can kill you later.
Kathryn walks towards the group.
Karoline, seeing their chance: Julia!!!
Julia TKs Kathryn into the nearest wall.
Kathryn: DIE!!!
Kathryn starts wildly throwing fire everywhere, and everyone else has to dive for cover.
Vicki: Someone get Kelly out of that cell!
Larissa makes herself invisible: I got it!
Lindsay: Julia, throw her into the wall again, harder!
Julia: Sure!
Julia throws Kathryn into the wall as hard as possible.
Kathryn: Uhh…
Karoline: Throw the potion!
Emily throws the potion at Kathryn, and everyone reappears in the manor’s living room.
Kathryn: Whoa, how did I get here?
Kelly: Kathryn? What’s wrong with you?
Kathryn: Kelly? Since when do we live together?
Karoline: Uh, a few years now…
Kathryn: Why?
Emily: We’re witches and we have more power together.
Lindsay: Great subtlety, Emily…
Kathryn: Witches? Powers? You’re crazy…
Emily: I’m crazy. Riiiight…
Kathryn: Show me these so-called powers…
Emily orbs across the room.
Kathryn jumps: Whoa! What happened?!
Kelly: You have powers too.
Kathryn: No way. I’m getting out of here. Do I have a car?
Julia: Unfortunately, yeah.
She uses TK to toss Kathryn’s keys over.
Kathryn: BMW? Wow…
Amanda: Should we go after her?
Kelly: No, let her go. We can find her later. LAUREN!!
Lauren orbs down.
Lauren: When you used that potion it removed all knowledge of magic, not just the evil. Now there’s a 24-hour window in which she can be turned good or evil. If you get her to choose good, you’ll have the old Kathryn back. If evil gets her, all the good she has helped you do will be undone. You have the advantage because the Source doesn’t know about it yet.
Lindsay: So all we have to do is get her to use her powers for good?
Kelly: It’s not that easy, you’re forgetting her pre-magic rebellious nature.
Karoline: It wasn’t that long ago.
Kelly: I know. Not much has changed. We should scry for her now.
Emily, from attic: Way ahead of you. Get the kayaks, she’s at the river.
Karoline and Kelly go down to the basement, get the kayaks, and strap them to the car. They drive to the river, and Lauren orbs them up to where Kathryn is. They see her sitting on the edge of the cliff in her kayak. She pushes herself, falls over the edge, and lands in the water.
Lauren: Must go, Elders!
Karoline and Kelly look over both edges of the cliff. It is about 30 feet above the water on one side and a sheer cliff face on the other.
Kelly: How the hell did she get up here?
Karoline: Knowing her, she scaled the cliff with the kayak.
Kelly: Well, I don’t think we can climb down the cliff. Our only option is to jump into the water with our kayaks…
Karoline: Are you crazy?! It’s like 30 feet!
Kelly: Well, it’s not like there’s any other way down. Come on, we don’t have all day.
Karoline: If you insist…
They both get in kayaks and sit near the edge.
Kelly: You go first.
Karoline: No, you.
Kelly: How about we both go on the count of three. 1…2…3!
Nobody moves.
Kelly: This is a waste of time.
She reaches out and shoves Karoline over the edge.
Karoline: Hey! Aaaaaaaaah!!! *Splash* Okay, your turn.
Kelly *pushes self over edge* : Aaaaaah!!! *Splash*. That was the bad part. Now we just have to go to her.
Karoline and Kelly go down the river. In about half an hour, they find Kathryn at the loading place drinking Gatorade.
Kathryn: I thought you said you would leave me alone.
Kelly: We changed our minds. Come on, you have to come with us.
Kelly and Karoline both grab Kathryn and try to restrain her. Kathryn unintentionally orbs back up to the top of the cliff.
Kathryn: Get—Off—me—go—away!
In her haste to get free, Kathryn pushes Karoline off the cliff.
Karoline, from water: Help! Someone! Sharp rocks!
Karoline drifts dangerously close to several sharp rocks.
Kathryn: Oh…What are we supposed to do? We’ll never get there in time!!
Kelly: You have to orb to her. It’s the only way.
Kathryn: Well, how do I “orb”?
Kelly: Concentrate on the person you want to go to. Envision yourself going to them.
Kathryn orbs down to the river.
Kathryn: Grab my hand!
Kathryn orbs Karoline back to the cliff.
Kathryn: Wh—What happened?
Kelly: Exactly how many times have you said that today?
Kathryn: What happened? Kelly, what are we doing on the cliff? What happened to Thalia? I think she’s evil.
Karoline: Yeah, about that…
Kelly: We’ll tell you on the way home.
Karoline: Wait…what’s the last thing you remember?
Kathryn: Thalia, and that newsletter.
Kelly: That was two weeks ago.
Kathryn: Oh.
Kathryn orbed everyone down from the cliff. Afterwards, they all drove home in Kathryn’s car. When they get home, they see everyone in the living room.
Kelly: Where’s Emily?
Julia: She went up there with Lauren half an hour ago.
Karoline: Why? Was she using magic for personal gain?
Lindsay: As far as we know, no.
Larissa: Honestly, we have no idea why they want her.
Amanda: If it was something bad, we’d probably know about it.
Karoline: Guess we just have to wait for them to get back.
As soon as Karoline finished her sentence, Lauren and Emily orbed in.
Julia: What did our “friends” up there want?
Emily: Well, they think Lauren is overworked, so they gave me healing powers so I can help her.
Karoline: Cool! Now we won’t have to wait as long to get healed!
Kathryn: What’s that noise?
Kelly: What?
Kathryn: Can’t you hear it?
Julia: Uh…no. Are you hearing things, cause they have medicine for that.
Kathryn: No…It sounds like bells or something.
Lauren: Oh, it must be a jingle. The elders must want you. You have to orb up there.
Kathryn: Okay.
Kathryn orbs up to Cloudville.
Kathryn: Wow…
Lauren, down on earth: They want Emily and I too. See you later.
Elder: We think the Source is planning something, but we don’t want you to tell your sisters. We think it would be better if they weren’t nervous and paranoid, because we haven’t proven that the Source is really up to something.
Half an hour later, Lauren, Emily, and Kathryn still aren’t back.
Vicki: I can’t help but think that they might be doing something other than “consulting with the elders.”
Amanda: Heh, yeah. They probably just orb to a bar somewhere and buy drinks. *Mimics Lauren’s voice* Yeah, our sisters think we’re up there. Here’s to the elders!
Julia: Careful! Someone might be listening. Lauren can hear when we call her, so she might be able to hear us now.
Kelly: You’re just paranoid. She can only hear when we’re calling, and we’re not calling.
Julia: I’m only paranoid because everyone’s out to get me.
Karoline: Yeah. Sure they are…I’m hungry. Does anyone want to help me make lunch?
Lindsay: I will.

That's all the story I have right now. More will be posted as soon as I (or Karoline) write more. (this might be a while because we're both working on prequels/sequels...)
