The Baptism Register Transcriptions on this site are provided to help family historians to trace relatives who may have been Christened in the Methodist Churches within the area now covered by the Gateshead & Jarrow Methodist Circuit and replaces the previous facility offered by telephone.

The area covered by the Circuit includes: Eastern & Central Gateshead; Kibblesworth, Team Colliery, Low Fell, Sheriff Hill, Kibblesworth, Windy Nook, Felling, Heworth, Pelaw, Bill Quay, Wardley, Springwell, Wrekenton, Hebburn, Jarrow, Monkton, Washington & Usworth, Durham Road, Mount Pleasant and Eighton Banks as well as the Circuits that have covered these areas in the last 150+ years. Many chapels did not have a register of their own. They may have shared with another chapel in the area or used a Circuit Register so if you can't find an entry that you expect to be there, consider looking in another register. At the end of each transcription, a surname index is provided along with the date that the Baptism took place. Please note: Baptisms do not necessarily appear in datal order. This is often the case with Circuit Registers in particular. Where no index is included, use CTRL & F (find) & enter search information.
