Meteoric Shipyards
A Traveller Page
Greetings!
Here you will find pictures and information about Meteoric Shipyard's products.
Meteoric Shipyards is a recent, but well funded, new starship construction
company based on Glisten. We are also the only Spinward Marches company
with a license to produce the new Accel-R-8 Maneuver Drive Engines designed
by Smith Laboratories.
Currently, we are the sole licensed manufacturer of the Imperial
Scout Services Marathon Class fast courier for the Spinward
Marches.
As soon as the initial trials are finished, we expect to go into full
production.
More details and pictures are coming.
Also on the drawing board is an exciting commercial vehicle, based on
the Khadumir/Marathon Fast courier. The plans call for a 400 Ton,
Jump-5, freighter with more cargo space than an Empress Marava Far Trader!
The Marathon Class Fast Courier
It's said the Imperial Bureaucracy moves slower than an Altairan Mega-elephant.
But in the Spinward Marches the Scouts are trying to upgrade their ships
with the newest technology. Using the Accel-R-8 M-Drives, we have
reduced the number of M-Drives in a Khadumir by one, spending the space
on extra crew/passenger space, added a rear airlock, and an air raft landing
bay.
Here is a video of the first production model landing. (There
is a Sulieman scout ship on the landing pad at the beginning of the movie.)

The Runner Class Long Trader
Stats: 400 dton SL hull, 3 Turrets (2 triple lasers, 1 sand caster), 200DR,
command bridge, 6 staterooms, 2 low passage units (8 berths), engineering,
utility, 1 spacedoc for the airraft, 24 J-Drive (jump-5), 200 fuel (enough
for a 5 parsec jump), 3 fuel processors (can process a complete refuel
in 8 hours, 20 minutes), 3 dtons of Accel-R-8 engines (2 units, for 1215
tons of thrust, an empty acceleration of 2.4Gs, and estimated full acceleration
of 1.56 Gs), and 54 dtons of cargo space!
Estimated cost 137 MC.
We did away with the large fuel collectors that extend back from the
Marathon. We kept the wings that are mainly used for stabilizing
the ship deep in gas giants (with the three fuel processors, for optimal
fueling, a fairly deep flight into the atmosphere works best). Included
in the package are advanced avionics and power technology.
