The Posture Of Prayer

A Psalm of praise.

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Psalm 100:1-5

Some people kneel to pray. Others stand with hands uplifted, while other folks will lie face down on the floor. So does it matter which posture we use when praying? --- Not really! What does matter is the SPIRITUAL posture in which we pray.

A Posture of Humility We need to enter our prayer closet with a posture of humility. We need to enter with the acknowledgement of the all-knowing, all-powerful, ever present GOD. Our recognition of our position relative to His should spiritually "bring us to our knees." The knowledge of wht Jesus did for us on Calvary should have us pleading for mercy for our wickedness.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
A Posture of Helplessness

His abilities and our inabilities should dictate the need to pray. Instead of waiting until all else has failed, we should be seeking God's help before it is even needed.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

A Posture of Honesty

As we enter into the Prayer Closet, we should expose ourselves to God with complete honesty. We need to be willing to free ourselves from all unrighteousness; therefore, confessing all known sin.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16

A Posture of Hopefulness

As we enter our Prayer Closet, we know that Jesus has conquered sin and death. We can be assured that He will keep His promise to come again.
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Titus 2:13

Enter your Prayer Closet with the right SPIRITUAL POSTURE. Surrender it all to Jesus. The Holy Spirit will guide you, and the Father will hear you.
