BIOGRAPHY

Carmen Metcalfe is 41 years old and has been a resident of Clay County since 1998. She has been married to Chris Metcalfe for 18 years. Carmen and Chris have two children, Michael and Jason. Michael is a sophmore at Middleburg High School and Jason is in fifth grade at Tynes Elementary. The Metcalfe family attends church at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Middleburg. Currently, Carmen is a full time Mom who devotes herself to children's causes and volunteering in our public schools. In the past five years Carmen has volunteered over 1,000 hours in our public schools. She has been on the Parent Faculty Board for four years and for two years she was President of that association where she helped raise thousands of dollars for our public schools to pay for special needs that are not covered at the state and local level. Carmen has also served for two years on the School Advisory Council working with parents, teachers, and administrators to help improve our schools. Carmen has served as a board member of the Erin Whitman Charity Basketball Tournament whose proceeds benefit autistic children in Clay County Schools. Carmen is also a former site director for the YMCA's after school program called Pryme Time.

The cornerstone of Carmen's beliefs are family, faith, and individual liberties and freedoms. She is a fiscal and social conservative who believes schools should reflect the values of parents and traditional academic principles. She knows that our children need moral guideposts and the appreciation of what is right and wrong in a culture that promotes moral relativism.
