Ulver - 'Silence teaches you how to sing' EP - By C. Diamantis
This is the first of the two EPs that were scheduled after the release of Perdition City. The goal of this band in these two EPs is to explore the silence in music. The track of this release starts some noises in the background but after a while it gets very melodic and comes close to the atmosphere and style of the last album. Though not as electronic as Perdition City, both releases certainly seem similar in the way they were conceived and composed. Of course there are almost no vocals in this release, mostly music and silence. Fortunately the track is so well written that one doesnt notice how fast its 25 minutes pass. As is the case with Perdition City, this is something that suits better to the nocturnal hours and its great for relaxing. Its easily understood that this is a release that the fans will love, but which the rest of the world will probably continue to ignore. Pity for them, because the releases of the band are small masterpieces. Just another piece in the puzzle of Ulvers impressive career. Metal Obsessive Grade: 90% |
