Stormlord - 'Supreme art of war' - By M. Lynch
Well what can I say about this record. This is probably one of the greatest Black Metal CD�s to ever exist. You don�t find any band that can match these guys. Bands like Ancient and Thyrane have tried and failed in my opinion. Nobody does it as good as Stormlord does. There is nothing bad about this CD. Its postivly one of the best album�s I have ever listened to. Lets get technical with this CD. Well the guitar riffs are heavy yet complex and I would say hard to perform. I don�t play guitar so I wouldn�t know but they sure as hell sound hard. Also the melodic keyboard is just great. Many bands like Cryptic Wintermoon, Bal Sagoth and other bands dominate with keyboards. Well Stormlord don�t use keyboards to dominate, they use them like a backup instrument to create an effect but damn it sounds great. Lets talk about the drumming. Well this should be simple. You are looking at one of the fastest drummers ever in metal I think. David is just an awesome drummer. Listen to the song �Immortal Heroes� and you will see what I mean. After the girl's singing listen to how fast he hits those double bass drums. Just awesome. I wouldn�t say he is like Dave Lombardo of early Slayer (�Angel of Death�) but he�s pretty fast. What amazes me about David is that he can play and play without taking a break like I see other Black Metal bands doing a lot, such as God Dethroned. This CD is just amazing. In my opinion nothing beats this record. Every single song is great, there isn't a single poor track. Just an overall great CD by these crazy Italians. On a production note the CD is just amazing with a top level of production. You don�t get any better than this. Too bad their other two CD�s (�The Curse of Medusa� and �At the Gates of Utopia�) don�t have the production of �Supreme Art of War�. Metal Obsessive Grade: 100% |
