Rage - 'End of all days' - By J. Korkiamki
Apparently, in Peavys mind, Rage still werent deep and serious enough, meaning the lyrics, so End Of All Days is a very hilarious theme album about a subject which touches us all: death. The lyrics themes vary from awakening the dead, talking to the dead and vehicle accidents to slow and painful death, just to name a few examples.

Having gained gratitude on Black In Mind and especially on the Lingua Mortis EP, the Lingua Mortis Orchestra is still in, with a much clearer musical appearance, but you still cant really notice a difference in the actual music. The album begins with Under Control, which promises a lot of the album. Great sounds, speed and power with attitude... now this is more of the Rage I once knew! After Higher Than The Sky an awesome melody begins the best song on the album, Deep In The Blackest Hole. As I am writing this, I am listening to the song, and thinking of all the shit I have taken lately, the song really makes you think; should you truly say everything you think about, and not keep it inside you, cause you can never know if tomorrow comes? Its even a lot easier to write thinking about these kinds of things.

All of the heavier songs on the album are the real thing, except for Frozen Fire, but the total climax of the album, is the heart breaking, melancholic ballad Fading Hours, which makes me dig up old photographs and think about the lost loved ones of my life. Peavy has always written great lyrics, but they have never got to me like this. The only minus of the song is its length, but if it was any shorter, it would definitely be amongst the top three of all time best metal ballads. Its also the only song ever, which has almost made me cry. Really touching material, especially from a band which in its early days hasnt probably even imagined taking up this difficult subject so deeply.

I have the European edition of the album, which includes two bonus songs. The Sleep is OK, although maybe a bit too rock for Rage. The other bonus is a cover favourite, Iron Maidens The Trooper. Having heard Sentenceds senseless version, I cant really say much about this. This is also much faster than the original, but a lot more loyal than Sentenceds version, which isnt a good thing within these circumstances.

Overall End Of All Days is much more of an album than Black In Mind, the material is much more stable, meaning both songwriting and sounds. There are a lot of weird songs and songs that do a lot of jamming in the choruses, and those songs could have easily been left off without degrading the value of End Of All Days as an album. But, they are very measly troubles, and they really dont hurt the album or the listener so much, that the whole album should be damned to hell. On the contrary, this is a very good album.
