Mustard Plug - 'Pray for mojo' - By C. Impey
From the first song it's obvious that Mustard Plug are a top quality ska-punk band. Unfortunately, having been around for a while now, they haven't become as well known as other bands from the same genre like Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake. There's a subtle difference between the bands I named above and Mustard Plug, their music is in the style of the more classic ska bands. Since their start they haven't compromised their sound to boost record sales. "Pray for Mojo" is a brilliant album, it's happy, bouncy and chirpy. It's such an easy listen, I haven't stopped playing it since i first bought it about a year ago. The best song is definately "Yesterday", this was the second Mustard Plug I'd ever heard and the only one I had heard from this album before I bought it... and I made no mistake in that decision. The classic ska-punk attitude is carried well by Mustard Plug, obvious on the tracks "Throw A Bomb" and "We're Gonna Take On The World". For fans of ska-punk music - BUY THIS NOW! For people who don't like ska-punk - I wouldn't buy it, it's ska-punk ska-punk ska-punk all the way through. For people who don't know - no harm in trying and I'd say most people would thoroughly enjoy it. Metal Obsessive Grade: 91% |
