God Dethroned - 'Bloody blasphemy' - By M. Lynch
Extreme Speed Freaks is what I like to call these guys. They play so fast yet they play so symphonic. What I mean by that is that they are very brutal black metal but they include keyboards and other types of instruments in their songs. That, in my eyes, is the good kind of black-metal. So whats so good about this band that any other Black-Metal band hasnt done yet. Well nothing...They are not as brutal as lets say Ragnarok or some other more extreme Black Metal bands. Their riffs are really cool. Very fast and very difficult to play. Their drummer is really good I think. He doesnt double bass a lot, which is a turn down because he has the ability to double bass a lot but he doesnt. He mostly sticks to the snare drums and a high hat which is okay...but only okay. At some parts he does go pretty fast on other drums like the bass drums while hammering down the snare drums with the high hats. Pretty good I think. At some points hes not all that fast. It's almost like the band gives him a break a lot during some songs where the guitars just take control and he just sits there and breathes and maybe takes a ten-second break. I guess thats ok but a drummer shouldnt have to take breaks like that. Its not like the songs are forty-minutes each. Most of God Dethroneds songs are about two to three and a half minutes long. Only a few songs hit over the five-minute mark. One of those is The Christhunt and the other is Soul Capture 1562. Soul Capture 1562 is one of my favorite songs off the CD. I dont know why but its just a great long song. The thing is the song is really slow, almost like a black-metal ballad, which is kind of uncommon and is mistaken sometimes for Gothic Metal. The guitar riffs are really cool in this song just very slow. Though later on near the end of the song the drumming and riffing gets faster and faster and becomes better and better. Overall its a good CD. I wouldnt say it one of those classic Metal CDs but call it, as you will. Its a good CD. I play it quite a bunch of times in my car so I guess I like it.
