The group that was born from the ashes of In The Woods released last year its second studio album. From the line-up of the band that recorded their previous album only Tchort appears in this album. That fact doesnt really effect the performance of the band that manages to produce yet another great album.

The first thing the listener will notice is, of course, that this album contains just one 60 minute long song. Many will think after learning this that 'Light of day...' is going to be a boring album but the truth is that one cannot understand the minutes of the song pass by. The changes in melodies, rhythms, and styles are numerous and dont let the listener become bored or tired. Tchort, who wrote the music and lyrics, has managed to do what few others can, to create a long composition that has enough diversity to retain the interest of the listener alive the entire time. If you want to put a label to the style I guess you could call it atmospheric metal, a musical style similar to that of In The Woods but with subtle differences that give the band its own identity. There are a few up-tempo moments in the album but the music is mostly dominated by the slower, more atmospheric occurences. This results with an album filled with emotions that cant help but mesmerize the listener. Its melancholic, or even sad, but that just adds to its charm. Parts of it (like the one in the middle of the track with Synnes singing and the saxophone) are so intense that will move anyone.

When one looks at the list of people participating in this album, one cannot help but admire the number of talented people that contributed in the creation of the record. Former In The Woods members, choirs and many other musicians have helped in the formation of this piece of art. Its an ambitious project but one that fulfilled every expectation. But I believe that the greatest part of the congratulations for this album should go to Tchort for his vision, his talent as a composer and his efforts in gathering all these musicians together in order to make his vision become real.

I believe that everyone who recognizes at least some of the names mentioned above should have a relatively clear picture of what exactly this album contains. For everyone else, if you like melodic atmospheric music then this would be a good choice. Its a very good album and one that deserves success and notice. There is only one flaw in this record...Its making me miss In The Woods soooo much
