Amen - 'We have come for your parents' - By C. Impey
"We Have Come For Your Parents" is the follow up to Amen's debut, self titled album. Amen's music seems to have developed, as you'd expect, for this album. It's quite a lot better than the first album. The best songs include "The Price of Reality", "Too Hard to Be Free", the wonderfully named "P*ss Virus" and "The Waiting 18". My overall favorite is "The Waiting 18". All of the songs are full of power and brutality. Amen are hard to put with a genre, I'd say they were punk-metal, if that genre even exists (if it doesn't then I just created it!). Chasey Chaos's screaming vocals are excellent, exaggerating the anti-America, anti-religion, anti-almost everything attitude that's so evident through the lyrics. The lyrics aren't for the feint hearted, full of cursing and graphic descriptions and extremely controversial. The sound of the music backing Chaos can only be described as mysterious. If you sit and listen to the music, as I did, you might come to the conclusion that the musicians in Amen aren't particularly good at playing their instruments, but when they get together they make one hell of a good sounded racket. "We Have Come For Your Parents" is even better when played REALLY LOUD, as with most rock and metal albums. It's not for everyone but if you like punk, you like metal, and you like your music with rough edges, then definitely buy this album! Metal Obsessive Grade: 88% |
