Children Of Bodom - 'Hatebreeder' - By S. Burrell
From now on, we are enemiesYou and I rasps an elderly voice, and so it begins, 38 minutes of flashy guitars that sound something similar to an Iron Maiden solo, with the small difference that they are performed THROUGHOUT, not just at the peak moments of a song. Non stop speed, slappery and thuddery from the bass and drums, interesting keyboarding that even gives it an almost medieval gothicy kind of feel. And snappy vocals that I only wish I could be able to sing along to, and that are pretty impressive before you even begin to contemplate how Alexi manages to play lead guitar at the same time. The lyrics are excellent as well, but to be quite honest, Alexi could be shouting People = shit throughout and it wouldnt alter the pure brilliance of this beautifully intricated piece of music. One of the best things about this album is that it is just so god damn uplifting! The music is so bright, flashy and lively, that it actually makes me excited about getting up on a Monday morning knowing that Ill be able to listen to it on the way to school! There is not a single fault with this disc, it remains perfect from beginning to end, and if you have any brain cells whatsoever, you simply must get hold of it. No matter what genres of rock music you prefer, I guarantee you will love this. It may be classed as death-metal, but it is very approachable. (And DEFINITELY not in an MTV kind of way) This is without a doubt my favourite album, whatever my mood, In fact, in the first few weeks of buying it I had to restrain myself from listening to it so I could actually listen to other CDs Id brought! Anyway, enough blabber, no words can truly justify this masterpiece, just buy it, NOW. Metal Obsessive Grade: 100% |
