Aura Noir - 'Deep tracts of hell' - By C. Diamantis
A few years before the wave of black-thrash bands that appeared in the middle & late 90s Aura Noir came into existence. Originally an avant-garde band, something like Ved Buens Ende, they radically changed their style into extreme black-thrash metal. The thing that distinguishes this band from the dozens of others who appeared when the movement became popular is that the two people that play in this band are very talented. Apollyon and Aggressor play all the instruments in this album and share the role of vocals.

From the beginning of the first song its easy to understand what youre going to listen on this album. Heavy guitars, fast riffing, fast drumming and blackish vocals. They manage to combine old-school thrash with the sound of the 90s and come up with a quite interesting mixture. The lyrics are typical for this kind of music and I dont think that the band paid any real attention to them, theyre just there because they had to sing about something. Its a nostalgic but not old-fashioned record and its better than a lot of things that they were called thrash without really being it.

So, this is not an album which will make a break through in music, its just a decent thrash album, made for the fun of it. And thats what makes this band special, they just do it for fun. So if you like thrash or bands like Swordmaster, Gehennah or Destroyer 666 this is an album youre definitely going to enjoy.
